An Emmy-winning performance on Johnny Carson's final episode of The Tonight Show inspired her return to the New York stage with Experience the Divine. At 50, she returned to Hollywood to star in the hit First Wives Club. Barbara Hershey, the narrator and her costar in Beaches, portrays Midler as a wise and humble woman who is courageous and compassionate.
