Season 1 Reviews

The group of 20-something women assembled for I Wanna Marry Harry come across as so unlikable that's it's impossible to have any sympathy for them... And therefore, that almost makes it a slightly (slightly) less horrifying to watch.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Gail Pennington
Remember Fox's "Joe Millionaire," in which an average Joe (actually, that was a different show) pretended to be rich, luring mercenary women to claw and scratch for his affections? Miss it? I didn't think so.
Las Vegas Review-Journal
Christopher Lawrence
There has to be a special section of hell reserved for the people behind I Wanna Marry "Harry."
New York Times
Alessandra Stanley
I Wanna Marry "Harry" isn't new, exactly. Like the Volkswagen Beetle, platform shoes and the British royal family, this sham Cinderella story is an updated classic.

Like spam, the show offers too much -- wealth, fame, royal status -- too easily. So the question it raises is: Who would believe it?
Variety
Brian Lowry
Mostly, the program relies on the women's greed, enthusiasm and stupidity to sell the notion that most of them think the hunt for "Prince Charming" is, in this case, more literal than usual.
The Daily Beast
Jason Lynch
Unless the show has something sensational in store down the line, it offers absolutely no reason to tune back in until the final episode, if even then.
Uncle Barky
Ed Bark
Isn't quite bad enough to make any viewers subsequently commit Hara-Kiri in shame and embarrassment. At least let's hope not.
Los Angeles Times
Robert Lloyd
A practical joke in the form of a reality show.
TIME Magazine
James Poniewozik
This is like the Gus Van Sant's Psycho of sexist reality shows.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Rob Owen
The show's narrator describes Matthew as "good-hearted," but in tricking all these women and making them look dumb (even the one who claims to be premed with a 4.0 GPA in molecular biology), it's hard to live up to that description.
AV Club
Sonia Saraiya
It's hard to imagine that any new reality show concept would really shock, awe, or horrify viewers. I Wanna Marry "Harry" manages all three.
People Magazine
Tom Gliatto
I am sorry to inform you that the show is a wasted opportunity: What should be jolly good stupidity is just stupid.
Slate
Willa Paskin
A show predicated on the uncomfortable, but not entirely insupportable, supposition that audiences totally will watch something icky, sordid, and morally wanting, so long as a minimal effort is made to make it look like a love story.
Minneapolis Star Tribune
Neal Justin
Just because the guy has a British accent doesn't make this a class act. There's no way reality TV could get any more ridiculous.
Hollywood.com
Hollywood.com Staff
As someone who doesn't usually watch reality dating shows, there's something especially enjoyable when (at least some of) the contestants are in on the hoax. It adds another layer of intrigue to what has become a rather tired set up.
Common Sense Media
Melissa Camacho
It doesn't send very positive messages about dating, relationships, or honesty, and it certainly succeeds in making American women appear foolish.
