The Hen and the Sloe BerryThe chick found a single sloe. She gulped it down quickly but the sloe stuck in her throat. She asked for the cock’s help, the cock asked for the tree’s, the wreath-maker’s, the shoemaker’s, the cat’s, the cow’s, the scythe-man’s and the bread seller’s help but each one of them asked something in exchange for the help. When he died the devils did not dare to receive him into the hell but St. Peter did not receive him into the heaven even. Since that time Starving Matthias has been sitting at the heaven’s door.

But a brave prince sets the daughter free from her father’s captivity and he reconverts the princess converted into bunny, lioness and dragon. On the wedding-feast the old king becomes reconciled so the young persons can get married happily.

He asks an old woman for a pot and water to cook a soup from a stone. He swindles salt, fat, sausage and potato after the other out of the woman so the "stone soup" becomes finished.

Dan the DancerThe old king announces that he marries that girl who can spin gold thread from tow. A pock-marked, aged and lame girl manages to do it with the help of a devil but she must promise that she will be his woman both physically and spiritually a year later unless she finds out his name up to that time. The king marries the girl willy-nilly and they are becoming friends but the queen is getting sad more and more. Fortunately the king accidentally learns the devil’s name. But the queen does not escape after all and she turns into tar together with the devil.

The Prince Who Wanted to Live ForeverOnce upon a time a prince lived who did not want to die. Therefore he left for the Land of Immortality and there he went to the queen. After a time he wanted to visit his parents. But it turned out that three thousand years had passed so he did not find his parents. But the death found him and wanted to take him away but with the help of the shoe originating from the immortal queen he could escape back to the Land of Immortality where he still lives if he has not died yet.

The Soldier's LuckThe poor soldier met an old witch who told him how he can become rich. He lived cheerfully until he run out of money. During his adventures a magic box and three dogs helped him. In the end he won the princess' hand.

The WitchThe poor man's three sons wanted to get married but their father allowed marrying only that boy who obtains the most beautiful flower, shawl and girl. The two older brothers had an easy job because they already had a beloved in the village but the youngest boy had to turn to an old hag for help. Nevertheless he managed to bring home the most beautiful flower and shawl and the hag changed into a pretty princess. They celebrated the wedding and the two other brothers could get married as well thanks to their younger brother.

The CricketCricky, the poor boot-maker make the people believe that he knows everything. Also the king heard about it and he sent for him and ordered the boot-maker to tell him where the queen's disappeared favorite ring is. The boot-maker got frightened that his trick comes to the light but he had good luck and he returned home with six large carts full of gold.

The Wolf's JokeOnce upon a time a poor man lived who had a horse, a lamb and a pig. In winter he did not feed them, in spring he drove them into the woods. One spring the animals are going in the woods and meet the wolf. They beg the wolf to eat them only in autumn when they are fattened. They outwit the wolf and escape. In the end they strike the wolf dead with an axe thanks to the wolf's fun.

The Princess' ShoesThe tale is about a high-minded princess who rejected all her suitors. She had a shoe made from fattened fleas’ coat and she announced that she get marred to the man who finds out what is her shoe made from. A prince disguised as a beggar learned the secret with a little trick and the girl got married to him willy-nilly. Afterwards he gave her a lecture as he made her work like a poor woman, brought her low so the girl was cured of her stoutness for ever.

Peter and PaulThe poor but smart Peter presented his cock to the squire who asked him to divide the cock among the six members of his family.
