Das letzte KapitelPrecinct Chief Girwidz's visit to the well-known crime writer Lydia Fernét takes a dramatic turn. When he enters her living room, he finds the woman lying dead on the floor. He himself is knocked down, and the perpetrator escapes undetected. Who is responsible for the successful author's death? The investigation leads Hubert and Staller to Claus Umbach's publishing house. The publisher and the dead woman's assistant report how popular Fernét was with her crime series. But fame had its downsides, as she had been severely harassed by a stalker for some time. And indeed, the man can be seen in surveillance camera footage outside her house. Did this obsessive adoration lead to murder? Tracking down the fugitive is more difficult than expected, as no one knows his true identity. So the investigators set a trap for the man: They spread the word to the public that Lydia Fernét survived the attack and is in the intensive care unit of the Wolfratshausen hospital. Hubert, Staller, and Sonja Wirth lie in wait at the hospital. The man they're looking for actually turns up, but Hubert and Staller accidentally catch a man who's trying to visit his wife. While Girwidz suffers from the effects of his head injury, Staller, inspired by the investigation, discovers writing. Supported by the likeable publishing assistant Julia Zobel, he devotes himself entirely to his literary ambitions. When a childhood friend of the murdered author suddenly appears, Hubert and Staller begin to doubt the stalker's guilt. It's an old typewriter, the one the dead author used to write her bestsellers, that ultimately leads the two investigators to interesting insights and puts them on the right track. Who wanted the crime queen to die?
  • Geheimrezepte
    E3
GeheimrezepteWhen Sonja Wirth accompanies an agitated customer to the "Lange leben" farm shop to file a complaint, she makes a horrific discovery: For owner Thomas Lange, the motto of his business has clearly not been fulfilled - he is lying dead on the floor. Dr. Anja Licht can find no direct evidence of external violence. When Hubert and Staller, who were involved in the lengthy and complex "TÜV for Car 3" case, arrive at the scene, the investigation gains momentum: Hubert appears to be the only one able to detect the bitter almond smell of cyanide. Staller initially doubts his colleague's poisoning theory - naturally also out of hurt vanity, as his own nose for sleuthing seems to have let him down in this case. A bag of organic food found on the dead man can be traced back to his business rival, Markus Till. However, a test on the living object shows that the goods are not poisoned. When Hubert and Staller discover that the health food store's financial situation doesn't seem particularly rosy, the dead man's wife, Sabine Lange, comes into focus: The expected proceeds from her husband's life insurance policy could be a legitimate motive. But there are also surprising revelations about Marcel Wiesner, the farm shop's only employee. Just as Hubert and Staller are about to zero in on a perpetrator, they come across more cyanide-laced goods at Café Rattlinger: a dietary supplement that the victim had also taken. So, is a dangerous criminal on the loose in Wolfratshausen, or has the manufacturer perhaps circulated contaminated pills? Police Commissioner Girwidz makes the matter a top priority. Just when it's literally a matter of life and death, the station's telephone system breaks down. But ultimately, it's his colleague Riedl who proves that sometimes things don't go so badly for something to malfunction.

  • Rauchen ist tödlich
    E5
Rauchen ist tödlichHubert and Staller are tasked by Girwidz with picking up a box of Cuban cigars for City Councilor Josef Sandinger's birthday. The dead owner of Wolfratshausen's only cigar lounge, Franz Jäckl, reveals to them that smoking can be fatal. Struck down with a heavy ashtray, his murderer also stuffed one of his favorite cigars into his mouth. For Staller, this is an unmistakable indication that someone was trying to silence a talkative witness. While Hubert and Dr. Anja Licht secure the crime scene, Staller meets cat owner Gabi Stötzke. Living alone with 20 cats, she is known throughout the neighborhood as a sinister catwoman, but this doesn't stop Staller from displaying his courtship behavior. But besides Staller's love affair, there is still another case to be solved. The investigation not only leads to the trail of print shop owner Werner Stubenmayer. To Girwidz's horror, City Council Chairman Sandinger also appears to be involved in the case. Hubert and Staller soon discover that cigars can be a lucrative investment. Through their colleague Sonja Wirth, the two police officers realize that the obvious isn't always the motive.
  • Bleifrei in den Tod
    E6
Bleifrei in den TodHubert and Staller run out of gas and are forced to take an involuntary walk across the countryside to the nearest gas station. While searching for a spare canister, the two make a horrific discovery at a gas station: Martin Geier is lying stabbed to death in his garage. Neither employees, friends, nor Ines Geier, the dead man's wife, can explain who could have killed the upstanding gas station owner. However, when Hubert and Staller discover a secret stash of stolen airbags and navigation devices in the gas station, the victim appears in a completely different light. Apparently, the man was operating as a large-scale fence. Was a dispute between criminals the trigger for the murder? In their search for an accomplice of the dead man, Hubert and Staller find him at the police station. There, handyman Lutz Tröger not only drives station chief Girwidz to his last nerve with repair work, he also turns out to be the dead man's nephew. And there's some evidence that he's involved in his uncle's shady dealings. When Hubert and Staller discover a connection between the stolen car parts and their friend Yazid, the investigation takes an unexpected turn. The case becomes unpleasant not only for Yazid, but also for station chief Girwidz, who suddenly finds himself in a difficult situation. But he unintentionally puts Hubert and Staller on the right track, and our investigators gradually close in on the clever murderer.
  • Steg mit Aussicht
    E7
Steg mit AussichtIn front of Hubert and Staller, Klaus Böttcher jumps to his death from a bridge. Shortly before, the father of a family had been at the police station to give a statement. However, after receiving a cell phone message, Böttcher quickly left. Was the man driven to his death by this message? Shortly before the desperate act, an unknown sender apparently threatened Böttcher with harming his young child. While the police station is searching for the sender of the threatening email, Hubert and Staller have another problem. While trying to prevent Böttcher from jumping, Staller was hit by a car and will now be in a wheelchair for several days. Staller, who escaped with two bruised knees, is unstoppable and wants to continue with the investigation, but he literally rubs people the wrong way. An annoyed Girwidz promptly places him on temporary leave. Since he can no longer reach his apartment in his wheelchair, Staller is happy that Barbara Hansen offers him a temporary stay. The journalist has returned to Wolfratshausen because her father has died. Sonja Wirth and Hubert learn that the suicide victim is the owner of an investment firm that has gone bankrupt and defrauded numerous investors of their money. Staller, on leave and confined to a wheelchair, believes he is witnessing a crime in Barbara Hansen's neighborhood. He sees a man in the early morning hours dumping a bag in the water at the dock on his property, which appears to be moving. Staller quickly determines that his neighbor, Hanselmann, has dumped a person in the lake. After an initial confrontation with the suspect, he also believes he knows that the victim is Hanselmann's partner, Birthe Wollhaupt. Doggedly and against all odds, he tries to prove his suspicions. But not even his colleague Hubert believes him. But then it turns out that the deceased Böttcher had not run the insolvent company alone: his partner at the time was Staller's new neighbor, Hanselmann.
