  • Der letzte Akkord
    E1
Der letzte AkkordHubert and Staller encounter a suspicious sight: A man attempts to break into a church in broad daylight. But the supposed thief turns out to be cantor Rainer Bentzer, who is worried about his organist. The organ has been blaring unceasingly on a single chord from the closed church for some time. When Hubert and Staller finally break through the door and rush to the gallery, their dire premonition is confirmed: Organist Wolfgang Otten lies lifeless on the keys of his instrument. Pathologist Dr. Anja Licht determines that the church musician died of an allergic shock caused by flower pollen. Staller ruined his voice while shouting at the noisy organ. Anja Licht immediately bans him from speaking. His colleague Hubert enjoys the peace and quiet. But it doesn't last long. Hubert and Staller learn from the organist's attractive widow that Otten was suffering from an incurable tumor. An irony of fate: The already terminally ill man dies of a simple case of hay fever. But when the investigators return to the church and inspect the organ more closely, the instrument turns out to be a veritable pollen dispenser: The pollen was deliberately placed and distributed into the air via the pipes. Otten's lethal allergic reaction as a result of his illness was used to kill him. A motive quickly becomes clear, for Otten was anything but a poor church mouse. While Staller, worried about his voice, seeks the help of a naturopath, Hubert and his colleague Sonja Wirth discover that the dedicated cantor Bentzer and his choir were generously provided for in the organist's will. When financial irregularities in the renovation of Bentzer's home are also uncovered, the worried cantor appears in a whole new light.
  • Fahr zur Hölle
    E2
Fahr zur HölleGirwidz, Hubert, and Staller are on their way to the train station in a patrol car to pick up 16-year-old Jannis, Girwidz's nephew. He's supposed to be doing a student internship with the police. But the three don't get far: At a green light, a dark sedan blocks traffic. The vicious insults of the taxi driver Hans Hauser behind it fall on deaf ears: a dead man is sitting at the wheel of the sedan. For taxi driver Hauser, the deceased was no stranger. The body was that of private driver Jörn Gruner, who offered his ride service via app and had long been a thorn in the side of taxi drivers. But where does the poison come from that Dr. Anja Licht finds in the energy drink can in Gruner's car? Hauser protests his innocence, but also makes no secret of the fact that he isn't exactly sad about his competitor's death. Hubert and Staller's work is complicated by the student intern, who, at Girwidz's suggestion, keeps a video diary and constantly interrupts the investigation with a rolling camera. Nevertheless, the police soon stumble upon a hot lead: The taxi drivers had been shadowing the private chauffeur and meticulously recording his journeys. One of Gruner's best clients was mayoral candidate Ferdinand Amberger. And as luck would have it, Amberger is at odds with taxi driver Hauser. While the politician has positioned himself as a moral guardian against the construction of a brothel in the town, Hauser, as the founder of the Pro Puff initiative, is fighting for the establishment. But Hubert and Staller have the feeling that both opponents are hiding something from them.
  • Walzverhalten
    E3
WalzverhaltenHubert and Staller are called to settle a marital dispute, when they make a gruesome discovery in front of the house: a dead man is stuck upside down in a dumpster. The dead man is journeyman Kurt Keppler, who was hired by the Waldhofer carpentry shop to repair the roof of the house. Hubert and Staller visit the carpentry shop and speak with the excitable boss, Friedrich Waldhofer, who also suffers from a heart condition. Although he appears shocked by Keppler's murder, he is simultaneously taciturn and suspicious of the police. Waldhofer's pretty daughter Julia is more approachable, but claims not to know much about the victim. A lie - because Hubert and Staller quickly realize that Julia was having an affair with the murdered man. And this despite the fact that she is engaged to the attractive tennis instructor Florian Reif. Reif, however, has a watertight alibi: He was with Sabrina Rattlinger at the time of the crime. This, in turn, displeases Hubert, who, since his contact with bull pheromones, has unusually had an eye for the female sex. Hubert and Staller become aware of bull breeder Bernd Geiger, who makes no secret of his anger at the murdered Keppler. During renovation work on the farm, Geiger had sealed the nostrils of his best breeding bull - which led to a total loss of virility, or rather, bullishness. A motive for murder? Hubert and Staller are convinced of it. But Geiger also has an alibi, albeit an absurd one... That leaves journeyman Charly Nägele, who was briefly on the road with the victim. But her statement also leads to a dead end. The investigators see no other way out than to plant a mole in the Waldhofer carpentry shop. A job for Riedl. Although his craftsmanship is a complete disaster, he quickly stumbles upon an interesting lead.
  • Waschen, schneiden, umlegen
    E4
Waschen, schneiden, umlegenShortly before closing time, Gentleman Staller fishes a passerby's lost key out of the drain. When he goes to wash his hands in a nearby hair salon, he finds the salon's owner, Steffi Lindinger, lying dead on the floor - apparently brutally murdered. The cash register has been emptied, and everything looks like a classic robbery-murder. The perpetrator left no clues. The case turns out to be a hairy affair on several levels... However, thanks to the testimony of the last customer, Renate Aufhammer, the time of the murder can be determined quite precisely. Heiko Lindinger, who worked as a hairdresser for his wife, has a watertight alibi for the time of the crime: He was shopping at the local supermarket and plausibly proves this with a receipt. But what about the attractive Miriam Sander, who also works in the hair salon? She was at home at the time of the crime - but without witnesses. Although all the evidence now points to a random act, Hubert and Staller remain suspicious. Sonja Wirth is ordered to infiltrate the salon. Perhaps it was a crime of passion after all? Hubert and Staller, with the help of a supermarket cashier, reexamine Heiko Lindinger's alibi and experience a special surprise. Meanwhile, another incident gains significance: a counterfeit 50-euro note turns up at Sabrina Rattlinger's house. A highly informative conversation with Yazid brings Hubert and Staller a decisive step closer to solving the case. Because it looks as if the perpetrator can be convicted based on counterfeit money.
  • Babyblues
    E5
BabybluesFor once, Hubert and Staller aren't dealing with a murder, but with a missing baby. Five-month-old Emil, who, like every day, takes his afternoon nap in his mother's office, has suddenly disappeared without a trace from the Gründing shipyard. An immediate search, followed by the arrest of several mothers and their babies, leads to complete chaos at the station but not to the kidnapper. Theo and Lena Gründing, the baby's parents and owners of the shipyard, shortly thereafter find a ransom demand for EUR250,000 in their mailbox. Herbert Karner, Lena's father and a wealthy publishing house owner, immediately agrees to provide the money. Hubert already has a suspect in mind: recently terminated employee Michael Rubens, who was on the shipyard premises at approximately the time of the crime. Staller has his eye on Sabrina Rattlinger's new lover and sailing instructor Thorsten Hinder. While Hubert Riedl sets his sights on Rubens and has him shadowed around the clock, Staller spies on Sabrina Rattlinger and her new love interest. He's convinced that the perfect son-in-law image is deceptive and that there must be a stain on Hinder's clean record somewhere. He accepts the fact that a dog flies out of a window during Staller's search for clues and that the wrong person is even suspected for a while, for Sabrina's sake. Meanwhile, shipyard worker Carmen Stolz lovingly cares for the worried mother. Stolz has a daughter the same age and can therefore understand the parents' dismay. Meanwhile, Hubert and Staller plan a "perfect" money handover to catch the perpetrator. But their plan goes horribly wrong. Only when Hubert and Staller delve deeper into the subject of the baby does some light shed on the sad affair.
  • Schnapsidee
    E6
SchnapsideeDistrict Chief Girwidz has a birthday, and Hubert and Staller want to get him a particularly fine tipple. They drive to the Hüttmann distillery. There, they find the fruit farmer Hüttmann dead in his distillery, having been beaten to death with a bottle of fruit schnapps. Hüttmann's granddaughter Mara is mourning not only the death of her beloved grandfather, but above all the loss of her turtle, which apparently escaped through the open door. To Staller's astonishment, Hubert searches for the missing animal with uncharacteristic zeal. The turtle is gone - but a few hairs are found. Are they the first hot lead? Pathologist Dr. Anja Licht, however, is making no progress, so Hubert and Staller must take DNA samples from everyone who was in the dead man's distillery. They start with forester Luggi Waldner. He had recently tried to acquire a piece of Hüttmann's land, but the stubborn fruit farmer refused to sell. A possible motive for the crime for the investigators, but: Would someone murder for a few hectares of forest land? At least the visit to Waldner leads to the trail of organic fruit farmer Franz Moser, the neighbor of the murdered man. He had been in a long-standing dispute with Hüttmann over Hüttmann's use of pesticides. Moser is reluctant to submit to the genetic test. Does he have something to hide? While the organic farmer increasingly comes under scrutiny as the perpetrator, Hubert and Staller also face some problems outside of the investigation: Staller's attraction to an attractive traffic offender earns him the wrath of station commander Girwidz. Girwidz's upcoming birthday, in turn, has the entire station on edge. And last but not least, Hubert's search for the missing turtle seems to be leading the two investigators ever further away from solving the case. Or are these detours the very thing that finally leads them to their goal?
  • Wer anderen eine Grube gräbt
    E7
Wer anderen eine Grube gräbtThe police station is receiving outraged complaints: A naked jogger is causing trouble in Wolfratshausen, and the police are supposed to put a stop to it. During a turbulent chase, the athletic Adonis escapes, and Staller suddenly disappears into the ground. Staller, in turn, tried to take a shortcut through the cemetery and fell into an open grave - directly onto a corpse. When Hubert finally finds Staller and tries to help him out of the hole, he discovers a lifeless hand protruding from the earth next to Staller's feet. The dead man is Alfred Hofbauer, the community gravedigger. He was apparently surprised while working at night and sent into the grave with a powerful blow to the head. Hardly any useful evidence can be found at the crime scene. The officers only find a crushed cigarette pack and a note with the company logo of Bestattungen Heller. Undertaker Thomas Heller and his friendly secretary Luise Schmidt, however, are unable to help in the search for the perpetrator. According to Luise, Alfred was a kind-hearted man; no one had anything against him. But did Alfred really live up to his good reputation? It soon becomes clear that the confiscated cigarette pack is contraband. Hubert and Staller agree: There's a connection to the murder. But unfortunately, conclusive evidence is lacking. Fortunately, the investigators are able to track down a witness who saw the entire crime with his own eyes: Günther the crow. It was the dead man's pet and best friend. Even though crows are considered extremely intelligent, Hubert and Staller have to overcome some serious communication problems. Because the two are already busy enough with that, it's now Riedl's responsibility to take care of the athletically naked man.
  • Tödliches Klassentreffen
    E8
Tödliches KlassentreffenHubert and Staller confront a drunk driver who blindly drove into an intersection, disregarding other road users. Hubert isn't thrilled to find out that the drunk turns out to be his old classmate, Günter Ammann. He had hoped never to see his classmate again - just like the rest of his classmates. However, when Staller finds the body of his former classmate Hanna Bommer in the trunk of Amann's car, Hubert and Staller have no choice but to arrest Ammann. He, however, protests his innocence. He claimed to have been at a class reunion the night before and, thanks to the alcohol, had a blackout. He didn't pick up his car until the next morning - underestimating the amount of alcohol left in his blood. He also doesn't know how the dead woman got into the trunk of the car. According to Dr. Anja Licht, she was strangled. Hubert and Staller begin investigating among the attendees of the evening party. A nightmare for Hubert, who, despite deliberately staying away from the class reunion, is now confronted with his old classmates. Especially with their curiosity about his private life. And his relationship with the murdered woman's husband, car dealer Ludwig Bommer, was already strained during his school days. From him, Hubert and Staller learn that his marriage to the former class queen has since broken down. The trigger for the breakup appears to be the highly successful plastic surgeon Dr. Fritz Bähr, with whom the deceased had also had a few blemishes removed. The evidence against Ammann is becoming increasingly overwhelming.
  • Die letzte Salbung
    E9
Die letzte SalbungHubert and Staller are called to the mountains by an agitated hiker. He has found syringes and medication on a slope and suspects that a drug addict is living there. On the scene, Staller not only finds drug paraphernalia, but also the body of family doctor Dr. Quirin Meyer. At first, everything looks like a hiking accident, but what's disconcerting is not only Meyer's black eye, but also the fact that the experienced mountaineer was wearing slippery leather soles. And why did he have his medical bag with him in the mountains? Was Quirin Meyer lured into the mountains by a patient and then murdered in cold blood? The receptionist, Gabriela Stein, hands Hubert and Staller a list of the names of all the patients Dr. Meyer regularly visits on weekends. But no one claims to have seen the doctor. At a remote mountain hut, Hubert and Staller meet the portrait painter Herbert Stein. The grumpy Bavarian was the victim's best friend and had been visited by Meyer at his hut on the day of the crime. Is it really true that the doctor descended back into the valley after his visit? It turns out that the receptionist is Stein's wife. When Dr. Anja Licht finds tiny particles of oil paint on the dead man's black eye, it's clear that Herbert Stein gave his friend the black eye. Out of revenge, because Gabriela Stein had an affair with Dr. Meyer. Hubert and Staller immediately present the painter to Girwidz as a potential culprit - which the boss doesn't like at all, as he's just having Girwidz paint his portrait for his ancestral gallery. When the two investigators hint that Girwidz looks quite old in the portrait, Girwidz wants to have his portrait retouched before Herbert Stein is arrested. At the same time, Sonja and Riedl are searching for the missing Rosemarie Valant, an elderly woman suffering from dementia who was also on Dr. Meyer's patient list. A strange coincidence? A patient disappears without a trace, the attending physician dies... are the two cases perhaps more closely connected than previously thought?
  • Der letzte Schuss
    E10
Der letzte SchussIllegal gambling at the Reitbacher country inn? When Hubert and Staller investigate the suspicion, the supposed poker game turns out to be harmless - until a gunshot suddenly rings out from the next room. Josef Brunner, co-owner of the Brunnerhof, had apparently left the gaming table shortly before the police arrived and taken his own life. His brothers Alois and Gerd are just as shocked as the innkeeper Sepp Reitbacher. A short suicide note in the dead man's room turns out to be authentic. Did existential fears drive Josef Brunner to commit suicide, or was the "Mausi" mentioned in the remains the reason for the suicide? However, no one in the man's immediate circle wants to know the ominous woman. And then Anja Licht's vacation replacement, Dr. Michael Hartwig from Munich, is also certain that Brunner's time of death was half an hour before Hubert and Staller arrived. The two find it difficult to believe the know-it-all from the big city, after all, they heard the gunshot. It's the dead rabbit of newly arrived Jens Harmsen and the unconventional driving style of real estate agent Jochen Kölbel that put the investigators on the right track. In fact, more than one person had an interest in Josef Brunner's death.
  • Vom Himmel hoch
    E11
Vom Himmel hochA grown woman falls from a tree in the middle of the forest and breaks her neck. Who climbs trees at that age? Hubert and Staller are skeptical and initially investigate forester Gerd Binsig, who is overly aggressively patrolling the adjacent bird sanctuary. Did he, in a fit of rage, chase and kill a dog owner who had wandered into the sanctuary, or is this a case of poaching? The forester, however, vehemently denies this, and the dead woman, with Asian features and carrying nothing but a wedding ring, remains unidentified. Dr. Anja Licht determines that the dead woman must have fallen from a great height. The police sergeants are perplexed: Who is the woman, why is no one missing her, and where did she fall from if not the tree under which she was found? Hubert and Staller actively investigate in all directions, and soon the bird sanctuary looks as if it had been the scene of a military exercise. While Staller endures a sightseeing flight in a biplane to search for clues, his colleague Riedl frantically combs the forest. Only when Dr. Licht notices something wrong with the dead woman's wedding ring does the case seem to take an unexpected turn. The investigation focuses on flight school director Michael Kronthaler and his father, who had just returned from vacation. The Mendler couple, who run a balloon company and regularly fly tourists over Bavaria, are also suspected. Girwidz is growing impatient because the dead woman's identity cannot be established, and then his wife's silver wedding anniversary present is delivered incorrectly. Luckily, Sonja Wirth has an idea how Girwidz can save his celebration. But soon it seems as if she and Riedl have driven the district manager straight into the arms of the potential perpetrator.
  • Neues Glück im alten Bett
    E12
Neues Glück im alten BettHubert and Staller investigate a robbery in a museum. The case takes a new turn, when they find a dead body.
  • Schwer erziehbar
    E13
Schwer erziehbarBurglary at the Zeislerhof. For farm owner Ludwig Zeisler, there's no doubt who stole his wife's valuable jewelry: It could only have been the problem children from the neighboring Boxerhof. His wife Christine and daughter Theresa are more cautious with such accusations. For some time now, the Boxerhof has been designed to reintegrate difficult-to-educate young people into society. However, some neighbors are critical of the project and blame the young people for every theft in the area. On the drive to the neighboring farm, Hubert and Staller discover a serious motorcycle accident: One of the social workers has literally lost his head. Hubert and Staller now have to not only confront social worker Norbert Dorfner with the accusations of theft against his charges, but also break the news of their colleague's tragic death. Dorfner is visibly shocked and first explains to the two investigators where the Boxerhof got its name: The deceased had tried to give the young people a new perspective not only through strictness and discipline, but also through boxing. However, the neighbor's suspicion that the stolen jewelry would be found on the teenagers' property turns out not to be true. However, the reconstruction of the accident puzzles not only Hubert and Staller, but also pathologist Anja Licht, as it's not entirely clear how the deceased could have lost his head. It's only when Hubert and Staller discover that a wire stretched across the street caused the motorcycle accident that the entire district suddenly becomes involved. And since three teenagers from the social project allegedly had problems with the deceased, the Boxerhof farm is once again the focus of the investigation, only this time it's a murder.
  • Tattoo für die Ewigkeit
    E14
Tattoo für die EwigkeitDr. Anja Licht initially assumes a natural death, but after further examinations, she notices the elevated blood sugar level. The doctor is certain that the deceased must have died from an insulin overdose. Since no puncture marks were found on Leon Weißenbacher's body, attention quickly turns to the new tattoo. The murderer must have inked the insulin under his skin. Weißenbacher was a regular at the "Art Session" tattoo studio, run by Sophia and Georg Beyer. To find out which of the two injected the lethal dose, Staller infiltrates the tattoo shop posing as an interested rocker. It quickly becomes clear that Sophia Beyer was the one who tattooed Weißenbacher. When Hubert follows her after work, he ends up at a dance studio. Therefore, he asks his colleague Sonja Wirth to also take part in the Zumba classes in the future. While Sonja discovers that Sophia Beyer is taking dance lessons from Kilian Weißenbacher, the dead man's brother, Hubert and Staller cling to the theory that the tattoo artist was having an affair with her regular customer. Despite all their investigations, the police cannot find a conclusive motive. At the same time, Riedl sets out to catch the car thief in the act. When he actually catches him, he escapes, and Riedl is left with nothing but a tiny clue that turns out to be completely insignificant. Meanwhile, Girwidz puts pressure on Hubert and Staller to finally solve the murder case. In their desperation, the two plan a fake blackmail.
  • Amors tödlicher Pfeil
    E15
    Amors tödlicher PfeilCupid's deadly arrow.
  • Wenn der Postmann ...
    E16
Wenn der Postmann ...As Hubert and Staller patrol a modest residential area, an explosion suddenly disrupts their daily routine: A package appears to have exploded just as postman Peter Sendel was about to deliver it to its recipient. The recipient, Christine Aumann, survives with serious injuries. Postman Peter Sendel fares worse - he barely manages to whisper a final word, "Billy," to Hubert before dying on the way to the hospital. Yazid, the "all-round expert," is consulted and is able to determine from the remains of the parcel bomb that the explosion was triggered by a remote detonator. Hubert and Staller are certain: both victims were not accidentally hit. Since Christine Aumann is unresponsive, Peter Sendel's smartphone initially serves as their most important source of information. The phone conversation clearly shows: When it came to women, Peter Sendel was no stranger to romance. Volker Rohde, the postman's boss, also confirms this. Katja Kimmich and Yvonne Baum, both of whom do not deny having had affairs with Peter Sendel, quickly become the target of the investigation. However, the affairs ended long ago, and both women have an alibi. When Hubert and Staller visit Christine Aumann in the hospital, freshly awakened from a coma, another suspicion is dispelled: Christine's middle name is Sybille, and "Billy" is merely her nickname. When images from a post office's surveillance camera surface, they seriously undermine Yvonne Baum's alibi. At the same time, Katja Kimmich reports a mysterious break-in in which the perpetrator didn't steal anything but left behind materials needed to make explosives. When Riedl lands a lucky strike in terms of circumstantial evidence, Hubert and Staller are certain they can convict the sender of the deadly package using his own weapons.
