Season 4

The elegant St. Gregory Hotel in San Francisco is the setting for a string of distinct plots, usually romantic, often involving famous guest stars for an episode or two. Victoria Cabot (Anne Baxter) runs the hotel for absent owner Laura Trent (Bette Davis), until Cabot dies halfway through the series, when manager Peter McDermott (James Brolin) takes over and makes Christine Francis (Connie Sellecca) the new manager.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth interferes with important communications between Christine and a potential client, making Christine look incompetent just as Charles Cabot is questioning Peter and Christine's managerial capabilities.
