The Reverend has fallen in love with Miss Polly and is planning to ask her to marry him. This is good news for Jason until Clancey brings her son to Seattle. Stempel uses this to try and convince the people of Seattle that Polly is not a 'marriageable' woman. Also working against the Bolts is the fact that the boy does not want his mother to marry.
