- ርልዪረJanuary 26, 2025🛠️I remember this show from its all too short initial runs in 2003 and 2004. You have Martin Freeman as Mike and Ken Morley as shop owner Rex (who steals every scene he is in) plus Peter Serafinowicz (Kenny) and Steve (Ryan Cartwright) the stuuuuudent!! This motley quartet run (or should that be ruin) Hamway's Hardware in South London. Their various antics cause customers to attempt suicide and a campaign to get more women customers drives the male ones away. A couple of doors away is the equally chaotic Nice Day Cafe staffed by the uber grumpy Julie (Ella Kenion) and Mike's girlfriend, the lovely Anne (Susan Earl). A brilliant solid ensemble comedy thankfully devoid of political correctness and which serves, for me at least, as a reminder of better happier times.
