Nurse Galka considers herself a happy person: she works in a hospital, dreams of entering a medical school and is going to marry her boyfriend Sergey. But one day she learns the incredible secret of her birth, and it turns her whole life upside down. It turns out that her mother, saleswoman Tamara, and alcoholic father Vitya are not her relatives. Many years ago, in order to hide her betrayal of her husband, Tamara took a desperate step: she changed the children in the maternity hospital - her dark-haired daughter with the fair-haired Galka. Unable to forgive her mother, Galka rushes in search of her real family. Now she must find out what was taken from her, and how her fate really should have turned out.
