Housewife Svetlana gives all of herself to her husband and son. She is ready to turn a blind eye to the endless drinking and betrayal of her husband Mikhail, setting herself up for humility and love. However, her margin of safety ends when her husband, in a fit of hatred, raises his hand against his son. Svetlana takes five-year-old Danka and leaves, left without money, housing and work. In these difficult times, Svetlana is helped by her classmate Herman.
