Chip Wade, most recently a contractor on "Curb Appeal: The Block," takes his tools inside as the host and designer on "Elbow Room." In each episode, Wade bails out a family who is in love with their home, as well as the neighborhood in which they live, but the passing years have created a design dilemma: the home no longer suits their needs. Wade listens to the challenges as laid out by the family and then meets them head on, whether it calls for an updated kitchen, a bathroom makeover or a full room addition, to transform the house back into home sweet home.

Designer/ contractor Chip Wade wants to give Beth a great room where she can oversee the kids from her kitchen, "the command center". A Barn to Dwell, Not SmellThe Jordan family moved from the city to the country and bought a barn that they want to transform into their dream home, the problem is no contractors will touch this project. Designer/ contractor Chip Wade saddles up for the challenge to design a space for both animals and humans to live in. He removes 2 of the horse stalls and the ceiling of the floor above to create a huge family room and kitchen with 30 foot ceilings, and a picture window looking out to the horse stalls. - Trampoline LoungingE4

A Baker's TaleThe Carroll's have three generations of family under one house of small closed off rooms. Nancy loves to bake, but the kitchen cuts her off from everyone else. Designer/contractor Chip Wade solves this problem by tearing out the walls to create a kitchen/great room to suite her baking needs as well as bringing the family together with a custom fireplace wall with a 9 foot fold down table, a walk thru pantry and a built-in wall oven. - Should We Stay or Should We GoE7
Should We Stay or Should We GoTom and Beverly Maiellaro and their 3 boys have out grown their house and they can't agree on wether they want stay or find a new home. Designer/contractor Chip Wade wants to convince Tom that he can renovate the kitchen and living space to hold large gatherings. Chip starts with tearing down walls to create great room, and renovates the kitchen to accommodate Tom's cooking needs with a custom walnut and maple butcher block, a new pantry with a unique sliding counter top to hide messes when entertaining. and to keep the boys entertained Chip builds a den area with built in seating and storage. - For the Love of WineE8
For the Love of WineThe Overdyke's don't like the closed floor plan of their 70's style ranch home. There is no grown up space for them because the kid's toys are everywhere. They need a space to accommodate both kids and adults. Designer / contractor Chip Wade transforms their family room, sunroom and kitchen into one huge great room, with a new desk area with a wine cork backsplash, a wine sports lounge with a custom wine storage carrousel, and a built-in wall shelving unit with a ton of storage for the kid's toys. - Keep the Porch SwingE9
Keep the Porch SwingHigh school sweethearts Renee and Michael Wymer's house has a lot of history. Renee grew up in the house that they bought from her dad, but it's too small for their family of four. Designer/contractor Chip Wade reconfigures the house to better utilize the space. He knocks down all the walls between the kitchen, dinning room and outdoor porch to create a huge open and airy space. In the kitchen he installs new ceiling high shelving with movable glass panels, and builds a beautiful sunken floor dining area with a custom dining table that expands into the outdoor deck, and converts into outdoor seating. - Taking Care of BusinessE10
Taking Care of BusinessAdam Redd works from home in a tiny office but the noise of his young children and barking dog is distracting him from his work, he needs a quiet space to focus. Designer/contractor Chip Wade designs a professional office that doubles as a den when Adam is not working. He rips out the room dividing fireplace and builds a new fireplace flanking the outside of the house, creating more space in the living room. And to fix the noise problem, Chip installs a custom sliding hardwood doors to block out the noise. - Beer BasementE11
Beer BasementDavid and Kerstin Adelman often have family visiting for long periods of time so they want to use their unfinished basement as a guest suite and family room. Designer/contractor Chip Wade rips out the back wall and installs a glass panel window to open the space up. He adds custom milled wood paneling through out and since David loves to make home made beer, Chip has an electric brewing system installed. - Italian Sports GardenE12
Italian Sports GardenVince and Cathy Zappa live on busy street and they worry because their kids play in front of the house because the backyard is a mess of dead leaves and pine needles. Designer/contractor Chip Wade solves this dilemma by creating an outdoor living space action packed full of sports activities with a sophisticated Italian aesthetic, complete with a new deck and dining area, and a play court with a life size chess board and movable basketball goal. - Kid's IncorporatedE13
Kid's IncorporatedSara and Josh Howell are a young couple with a little daughter and one on the way. Their master suite has become the epicenter of the home and they need more space to congregate. Designer/contractor Chip Wade creates an open floor plan by utilizing the unused rooms nearby. He remodels the master bathroom to include a custom tub with a molded seat made from a light weight concrete product. He opens access to the nursery by installing a swinging partition wall, allowing them to keep an eye on the baby with the option to close the door for privacy. Then to create a living room space, Chip installs a retractable bed that pushes into the wall to become a couch. This one of a kind bedroom is now works as a family space as well as master suite.
