2009-04-03 The police talk to Ronnie about the accident. Ronnie’s concerned no one’s contacted her about Danielle’s body, but the police say they’ve called Danielle’s father. Roxy tries to stop Ronnie going to the Slaters’. Ronnie’s furious when Archie offers to take her to see Danielle. Stacey says that Danielle’s father, Andy, is coming to collect her things, it’s not the time for Ronnie to reveal who she is. Jack offers Ronnie his support. Stacey tells Andy Danielle came to Walford to find her birth mother. Ronnie follows Andy to the spot where Danielle died. At the Vic Stacey starts drinking. Archie arrives, and won’t leave until he’s seen Peggy. In the café Andy’s surprised to discover Ronnie was there when Danielle died. Ronnie offers to go with him to identify Danielle’s body. Roxy and Phil unwrap the picture of Danielle and Amy. Roxy tells Archie Peggy’s gone away and he’s not wanted. She throws his suitcase out the window. Janine finds Archie in the street and offers him her hand, he takes it. At the mortuary Ronnie’s distressed when she can’t hold Danielle. Andy realises who she is. When Ronnie tells Andy about the lead up to the accident he says she killed Danielle. The police bring Janine home, they haven’t decided whether to charge her. Billy’s more concerned about the Mitchells than Janine, when he suggests the accident was her fault she tells him to pack his bags. Later, Janine’s asked to leave the café and Vic. Finding Archie as alone as she feels, Janine offers him her hand. Masood stands up to Phil for Jane. Ian’s worried by rumours that Grant might return. Tanya tells Max their kiss yesterday was an accident. They enjoy playing a tennis game with Abi, but Lauren’s absence weighs heavily on them all. - 2009-04-21E64
2009-04-21 Zainab pretends that she is felling unwell and Masood is suspicious so doesn’t pass on the message that the book club is cancelled. Zainab is dressed up and ready to go out when the book club arrive at her house. She can’t get rid of them so texts Bob to say she will be late. Masood confides in Jane that he thinks Zainab is having an affair but Jane is not convinced. When Zainab goes to her meeting it is not with Bob but her son, Syed. Roxy receives a solicitor’s letter from Jack. They spend the afternoon in the park with Amy and have a good time. They are getting on well and later Jack rips up the solicitor’s letter and they kiss. Dotty shows Nick a picture she has drawn of her dream house where they will live once Dot is dead. Dot finds Nick in the kitchen and tells him to leave but he says he only wants to see Dotty. He returns the money he took in exchange for Dotty. Nick tells Dotty that from now on they will follow his plan and they agree to start making Dot appear confused. Heather spends the afternoon with the Brownies, while Phil and Shirley spend the afternoon at the flat. Heather returns unexpectedly with two brownies only to find Phil drunk and half naked in the kitchen. Heather rushes the girls out before they see him. Patrick is unhappy that Theo is back on the scene but eventually gives his blessing for Chelsea’s sake. He still can’t forgive Tommy but thinks it’s time he sought forgiveness from Ruth’s family. They won’t let him in the house and this makes Patrick even angrier with Tommy. He heads off to the hospital to confront him. - 2009-04-23E65
2009-04-23 Syed and Zainab catch up. He was in Leeds for 3 years and had his own property company but lost everything as the market collapsed. He came to London to work and is now freelance. They talk about why he left and Syed asks after Masood. He admits it was hard not seeing his family. Zainab offers him some money but he refuses. When he takes Zainab to see the penthouse flat where he lives she says she is proud of him and his success. Syed tells her he really wants to pay them back. He has seen some properties he wants to buy which he would sell on for a good profit, only he has no money for a deposit and couldn’t get a mortgage. Zainab takes the brochure and says she will persuade Masood to invest. Jack tells Roxy they could be a family and Roxy is torn between what she wants and what she knows she must do. She confides in Christian about how she feels about Jack. Ronnie is going ahead with arrangements for the Christening and surprises Roxy when she puts Jack on the list. Ronnie tries to talk about the christening to Jack but can’t. Roxy realises there is no way she can be with Jack while Ronnie feels this way. Patrick can’t find it in himself to forgive Tommy as it would feel like he was letting Ruth down again. Denise reminds him that Tommy may not make it through the night. Patrick forgives Tommy and sits with him until he dies. Heather is very happy that Shirley has found true love with Phil but she is not happy when she finds the bin full of empty booze bottles. - 2009-04-24E66
2009-04-24 Zainab is angry when she talks to Masood about the property investment and he isn’t interested. Masood is suspicious when he overhears Zainab on the phone talking about the property and calls the last number dialled. Syed answers the phone. An angry Masood confronts Zainab with the truth. Zainab admits she saw Syed for the first time yesterday and tells Masood how sorry he is and that he wants to pay them back. Masood marches off to see Syed and they argue. Syed is upset that Masood took the blame for what happened; he is sorry but not thankful. Syed persuades Masood not to leave and they begin to get on. When the real owner of the flat arrives Masood realises Syed has lied about his current lifestyle and storms out. Syed runs after him and pleads for help. He has no job, no money and nowhere to live. Masood is angry that Syed lied and leaves. Jack continues to pursue Roxy but she brushes him off. Max tells Jack he always wants what he can’t get, he doesn’t want Roxy he just wants Amy. Jack admits he still loves Ronnie. Dot can’t find her purse and Nick tries to persuade her that he should come and stay. Dot refuses but when she finds the purse burnt in the oven she invites him back. Heather is angry with Shirley that she is allowing Phil to drink. Shirley tries to cool things with Phil but can’t. She tells Phil she loves him and is disappointed when he doesn’t respond. Eventually Phil says it but Shirley isn’t convinced. Following Tommy’s death Patrick doesn’t want to go to Trinidad, but Theo persuades him to go. Chelsea is unimpressed when Theo takes her on a date to the Globe. - 2009-04-27E67
2009-04-27 Phil warns Heather not to talk about him and Shirley but she lets it slip to Ben. Phil rejects Shirley’s calls. Shirley acts as if this doesn’t bother her. Ben plans to invite them to Billy’s meal. Phil finds out about the meal and says to Ben it isn’t happening. Ben admits it was Heather who told him about Shirley. Heather goes to see Phil who is drunk and annoyed. Phil shouts at Heather who stands up to him and locks him in the Arches. Masood and Zainab continue to argue about Syed. Syed comes to the house and tells Tamwar he wants to apologise and come home. Tamwar suggests it would be better if Syed left. Syed won't leave so Tamwar reluctantly accompanies him to the café. Janine introduces herself to Syed. Masood comes in but narrowly misses Syed. Syed admits to Tamwar that he has nothing and nowhere to go. Tamwar gives him money but Syed says it is his family he wants. Tamwar thinks Syed has gone but is shocked to see him going into Janine’s flat. Todd asks Whitney out and Ricky persuades her to go. Todd and Whitney hang out on the car lot and things are going well. Todd offers to buy them some chips but forgets his wallet; Whitney finds it and is horrified to discover a condom. Whitney storms off before Todd has a chance to explain. Billy receives a picture from his kids. Jay is worried about Billy and cooks a meal to cheer him up. Jay doesn’t put the lid on the blender and it spills all over Billy’s picture. Billy is furious with Jay for ruining the picture. 2009-05-04Heather looks at her ultrasound photo. Dr Jenkins asks her if she’s told her friends she’s pregnant, Heather says she hasn’t even told the father. Heather writes a letter to the father. Heather carries her letter around all day. After talking to Ben, who says he was better off with just his mother, she burns the letter, deciding never to tell the father. Roxy’s upset because Ronnie’s bought Amy a new christening gown. Phil’s drunk again, but when Roxy asks Ronnie to sort him out, Ronnie just tells Phil not to drink in front of the baby. Roxy tells Jack her worries, he offers to help. He reassures Roxy she’s stronger than she thinks. Jack wants to be a proper dad to Amy. Ben tells Shirley everything’s worse now she’s going out with Phil. Jay draws on Phil’s face and puts Danielle’s locket around his neck, Phil breaks it when he wakes up. Ronnie’s distraught to discover what has happened. Zainab interrogates Tamwar about Syed’s girlfriend Amira. Zainab secretly searches for Amira’s number on Syed’s phone. Billy receives a hand-delivered birthday card reading ‘you let Jay’s dad die’. Dot insists she didn’t tell anyone Billy’s secret. When Heather asks Billy’s advice about her letter, Billy wrongly suspects her of sending the card. Nick eventually tells Billy it was him, he’ll be in touch to tell Billy what he wants. The women of Walford admire Dr Al Jenkins. Tanya spills coffee over him. She apologises and he offers to buy her a coffee. Max wants Tanya and the kids to do something for his birthday the next day, Tanya tells him to count her out. 2009-05-05The day of the Christening. Roxy’s worried, Phil’s still drinking and the pub’s not decorated for the party. Ronnie struggles to write her speech, Roxy reassures her she’ll be a great godmother. Phil’s passed out on the living room floor, Roxy wakes him tells him not to come to the christening. Jack arrives to help, he asks Ronnie if she’s been drinking and tells her he misses her. Roxy realises Ronnie’s not coming to the Christening even though Roxy organised it for her. Phil and Ronnie drink together. Ronnie arrives at the church late and drunk. Roxy gets upset and runs out, Jack follows. Jack tells Roxy she’s not on her own. Ronnie sees them kiss. Syed’s happy when he’s invited to lunch at his parents’ house. Masood’s less thrilled by the idea, and is confused to find the table set for five. Syed is nervous when Masood tells him Zainab has invited Amira. Heather refuses the fatty breakfast Shirley’s made. At the launderette she hides her pregnancy book when Shirley comes in. Shirley tries to placate Heather, who’s still upset by Shirley’s relationship with Phil. Heather still plans to move out of the flat. At the christening Ronnie tells Jay he’s not a Mitchell, he runs from the church upset, followed by Nick. Billy sees the two talking. Tanya comes downstairs to find Max, who has made breakfast. Impulsively she claims she can’t go anywhere with him and the kids because she has a date. Tanya admits to Jane she’s lied to Max, Jane tells her to ask out Dr Jenkins, but when Tanya speaks to him, she loses her nerve. - 2009-05-15E78
2009-05-15Stacey is a mess; she refuses to stay home and heads out into the square. Dermot, Lister, Ian and Mo all want her attention but she has only one focus – to find Max. Her behaviour becomes more erratic and her responses more extreme. She loses the stall. She is rude to Bradley and steals his keys. She barges into Tanya’s and argues with her about Max. Stacey pretends she and Max are still an item and shows Tanya the keys. She insists it wasn’t just a cheap fling. They had planned a future together and he had got her a flat. Tanya throws her out. Stacey lets herself into Max’s and heads to his bedroom. Max and Tanya row and Max insists what Stacey said isn’t true. Stacey was a mistake and he is serious about a future with Tanya. He doesn’t deny that there was a flat. Tanya storms out. Max is furious to find Stacey in bed and tells her to get out. She is ruining his chances with Tanya. Stacey just wants some fun but Max tells her she is a state, she used to be sweet but her behaviour now is not normal. Stacey insists that she is still the same but Max tells her to leave him alone. Charlie is furious about the unpaid bill. He and Jean are appalled when they find Stacey’s shopping and unpaid bills. Stacey starts to throw stuff out of the window and Charlie says that is it, she has to leave. Jean recognises Stacey’s behaviour and knows that she is bi-polar. It is hereditary and can be set off by something bad happening. As Stacey’s behaviour starts to deteriorate she pleads with her to get help but Stacey is in denial. 2009-11-02Archie invites Sam to lunch and tries to persuade her to move in, she’s tempted but Ricky thinks it’s a bad idea. Archie then asks Billy to move in. When Peggy refuses to give Billy a job, he decides to take up Archie’s offer. Janine arrives with a man from the council to sort out Archie’s wasps’ nest. She wonders what Archie’s plans are. When Archie mentions that in his day they used to smoke wasps out, Janine decides that’s exactly what they should do to the Mitchells’. Billy and Jay need somewhere to live, but they need a deposit first. Lucy taunts Jay about being homeless and later brags about how much her new phone cost. Lucy tells Ian she won the phone, but he confiscates it. Lucy persuades Jane to give the phone back. A hooded boy mugs Lucy. She falls to the floor injured, the mugger hesitates and pulls back his hood – it’s Jay. Syed waits nervously for the post. When he receives a text ‘Today £300 cash’, Syed complies, leaving the money in a phone box. Blackmailer Lucy uses the money to buy her new phone. Christian thinks Syed was stupid to pay the blackmailer, but ends up comforting him. The men jump apart when Amira walks in and claim they’re discussing the wedding. Lucas gives Denise an engagement ring and they set a wedding date. They celebrate in the Vic with Pat, Patrick and Liz and discuss the dance competition. Lucas is shocked when Owen walks in. Realising that Jane is avoiding book club because Heather and George will be there, Tanya invites her over for a drink. Jane tells Tanya how much she wants a baby. 2009-11-03Archie’s decided against torching the Vic, even though Janine tells him if it looks like an inside job, the insurance won’t pay up and the Mitchells will be forced to sell. Janine tells Peggy that Billy’s living with Archie. Peggy’s angry and confronts Billy; she’s surprised when he stands up to her. Archie realises the Vic is going to be empty that night as the Vic is ‘on tour’ at the firework party. As Billy and Jay toast Archie, he visits Janine and hands her some matches, telling her he’s had a change of heart. They’re going to do it - and pin it on Billy. Ian’s time with Oscar goes well, and he tells Jane he’ll consider adopting. Then Lucy arrives home. When Ian finds out Lucy’s mugger was after her phone, he’s angry with Jane for giving it back to her. They argue and Jane’s upset when Ian refers to Lucy as ‘my’ daughter. Ian tells Jane no one will give her a child while she’s in a state like this. When Masood falls asleep in the café, Christian retrieves a card from the blackmailer from a pile of post. Christian decides to tackle the problem head on, and when Syed accidentally leaves his phone, Christian uses it to call the blackmailer. The phone rings in a bin and Christian’s surprised to see Masood answer it. Christian follows Masood to the pub, the phone rings again, it’s Ian – Lucy’s been mugged. Denise isn’t happy that Owen has decided to stay in Walford. Liz makes Owen show Denise his bruises. Denise can’t believe that Lucas hit Owen and is furious when Lucas admits that he did. Peggy’s suspicious but Archie insists the fire must have been started by kids, claiming he saw them run away. Janine tells Archie no one can prove he’s anything but a hero, but Archie’s haunted by the thought he could have killed Peggy. Peggy finds Billy’s wallet and summons Archie back to the Vic. Sure Archie started the fire, Peggy plies him with drink and shows him Billy’s wallet. Archie admits nothing. They kiss. Masood makes light of the kiss, but tells Jane it’s probably best if Ian and Zainab never find out. Lucy’s worried that Jane’s going to leave, but Ian reassures her. Jane and Ian talk, he tells her he’s willing to give the adoption a go. Jane’s excited, but soon realises Ian’s only doing it for her. Jane decides she needs to go away to think things through. 2009-11-10Owen and Ronnie agree to keep the previous night a secret but Roxy smells a rat. When Owen comes round to see Ronnie, Roxy works out what has happened. Denise overhears Roxy and Ronnie talking about it and takes Ronnie aside to warn Ronnie off him. Owen over hears Ronnie suggesting that Denise is still in love with Owen and when she doesn’t deny it, Owen can’t believe his ears. Lucas tells Owen that he wants him gone by the end of the week. Denise tries to seduce Lucas who tells her he wants to wait until the wedding. Lucy is still house bound and after being threatened by Syed she starts to believe he is her attacker. Jay suggests she regain her confidence by having boxing lessons with Owen. It works and with her newly found confidence she confronts Syed. Pat gets suspicious when Peggy cancels their lunch date. Later, when Peggy calls her to rearrange, her curiosity gets the better of her and she hits redial. When Archie answers she realises Peggy is seeing Archie again. In an effort to distract Whitney from the trial, Ryan asks her to design t-shirts for the stall. He has even designed a website and Whitney is delighted when she receives an order for 500 t-shirts. Ricky later admits to Bianca that he ordered them; he only meant to order 5. Ian has a terrible hangover and in an effort to cheer himself up he puts one of his properties up for sale. Max helps Abi and Jordan raise money for Trina’s tree making £100. Tanya suggests that they will make a hefty contribution, Max is concerned. 2009-11-12Owen tells Ronnie that he heard everything - it's clear she thinks that Denise still has feelings for him. Liz encourages Owen to pursue a relationship with Ronnie, but he is after Denise. Lucas is annoyed when Denise avoids a meeting with the Pastor. Later she admits to Patrick that she still has feelings for Owen. Owen asks Denise if she wants to with him not Lucas Pat tells Peggy that she knows about her and Archie and persuades her to end it. When Peggy rejects Archie, he tells her his cancer has returned. Max’s fake loss adjustor visits The Vic; Max is paying him to say Peggy’s Insurance claim is unauthentic. Ian asks Tanya for a makeover and offers Ian her support. She is disgusted when later, thinking Ian has invited her round to help her get approval from the council for Trina’s tree, he propositions her. Bianca and Ricky encourage Whitney’s doubts about whether she can really cope with the size of the t-shirt order. Ricky is too embarrassed to tell Sam that he accidently ordered them as she brightly suggests she can get Whitney an investor. Sam goes to Jack, who agrees to fund Whitney is exchange for a cut of the profits. Sam wants Jack to take her out but he has already agreed to help stressed Roxy with Amy’s first birthday. She thinks Roxy is taking advantage of him and sees him as a cash cow. Lucy tells Christian that she is going to the police as she believes Syed mugged her. Jay who has grown close to Lucy still can’t bring himself to tell her that he was responsible. Pat makes Phil an offer for the Arches, which he eventually accepts. Peggy’s furious and decides to visit Grant in Portugal. Max assures Phil he’ll get the money he owes him. Phil tells Max they’re going to take it from Ian. Ian buys a hot tub, but has no one to share it with. Masood confronts Ian – surely he can afford to pay back Masala Queen? Ian refuses. Denise triumphantly drags her exercise bike outside complete with ‘for sale’ sign. Jordan and Abi try to get to the bottom of the Trina’s tree planting mystery. Libby and Chelsea persuade Denise and Lucas to stay for a buffet tea. Lucas spots a workman preparing to dig the tree up, and persuades him not to. At the buffet, Lucas is nervous when Denise suggests that she knows who planted the tree, but she just thinks Lucas has done a kind thing for Jordan. Denise and Lucas set off on honeymoon. Denise tells Kim that Dexter came on to Chelsea. Chelsea and Denise are dismayed to see Kim and Dexter still together at the buffet. Kim admits she can’t live without him. Shamefaced, Liz stumbles out of the Slaters’ and realises she’s lost an earring. When Charlie tries to return the earring, Patrick sees it and mistakenly jumps to the conclusion that the pair slept together. Liz tells Charlie that she’s not looking for a relationship. Libby’s thrilled when Darren suggests a trip to Barcelona for New Year. Darren feels guilty when he sees Heather struggling to pay for some shopping and gives her some money. 2009-12-21In the Square gardens, Janine begins the countdown to the Christmas tree lights switch-on. Watching the event, Jane worries to Christian about Ian selling the loan of the Vic to Archie. Christian is distracted by Syed and walks away from Jane. Upstairs in the Vic, Peggy says they should never have trusted Ian. Jumping to Archie’s defence, Roxy blames Peggy for signing the divorce papers, thus, giving away her marital rights. Ronnie requests that the Mitchells do everything above board as advised by their lawyer. She points out that Archie is powerless without an ‘order of possession’. Afterwards, Ronnie and Roxy bicker about how to deal with Archie. Roxy suggests trying mediation but Ronnie is adamant that they do not bargain with him, reminding them of why they cannot trust Archie. Later, Archie arrives at the Vic. Roxy tries her method of mediation and declares the family should be together at Christmas. Archie, Ronnie and Roxy sit around a table at the Vic, trying to reach a compromise. They all agree to at least aim for a peaceful Christmas until Janine arrives, flaunting her relationship with Archie. Ronnie immediately rejects Janine as part of any family Christmas. Archie is incensed and insulted by Ronnie’s words. He tells them that he is thoroughly disappointed in his girls before storming out. To add insult to injury, Janine reveals to the Mitchell sisters that Billy knew about their plan to take over the Vic and comments on her relationship with Archie. Furious, Ronnie flies at Janine before chucking her out. Roxy finally agrees with Ronnie that it’s ‘war’. Meanwhile, Ian claims he is ill and explains to Ben that selling the loan was not personal but business. Ben asks his dad to buy the loan back from Archie and Jane agrees he should. Jane is distraught over Ian’s behaviour confiding in Christian that she is unable to understand Ian’s selfish ways. Christian empathises and unknowingly discloses that he has found someone and eventually he relents to Jane’s pressure to tell her about his relationship. Later, Jane spots Christian in the Square staring up at Syed’s window and she realises that it is Syed who Christian is in love with. Mo is having trouble controlling the children in the nativity rehearsals with Dotty appearing to cause Mo the most mischief. Mo threatens the children, stating that she knows Father Christmas and he will cancel Christmas if the children do not cooperate There is a power cut at the community centre and Father Christmas (or is it Charlie Slater?) appears at the door. Mo asks him to come back on Christmas Eve when the show is over and the children have behaved. Dotty and the others snap to attention and concentrate making the nativity a success. Pat receives a phone call and she’s heard telling the caller on the phone that although she will be needed in Albert Square over Christmas she will arrange a flight. 2009-12-24Peggy and Roxy are waiting at the hospital outside Ronnie’s room before going to Ronnie’s bedside. Archie is pacing in his lounge, expecting visitors. He informs Janine that when the Mitchells read the loan agreement, they will realise they must leave the Vic. Soon after, Peggy visits Archie and slaps him twice around the face. Janine overhears the conversation through the wall. Peggy is livid and threatens Archie there will be trouble if he goes near the girls again. Janine then enters in lingerie, asking Archie to return to bed. Peggy leaves in disgust. Peggy informs Ben and Phil that Ronnie is in hospital. In reaction, Phil pours himself some whisky and swiftly downs it. Peggy watches in disappointment and pleads the family fight Archie together. Billy arrives to see Peggy and confesses he knew about the loan. Billy explains his reasoning claiming that he doesn’t feel part of the family and Archie was there for him. In the Vic, Peggy announces the raffle draw and Mo complains loudly that she has not purchased tickets yet. Stacey gives Mo one of her and Bradley’s tickets. The raffle is drawn and Mo wins Max’s Merc, that he was recently forced to give to Phil. Bradley is frustrated as the winning ticket was originally his. Mo attributes her luck to the Queen Vic bust – she touched it shortly before her winning number came up. Everyone in the pub touches the Queen Vic bust in the hope that it will bring them good luck. Peggy announces to the Vic that she wishes everyone a merry Christmas. In response, Minty toasts to what a fine landlady Peggy Mitchell is. Archie and Janine enter the Vic. Roxy reacts aggressively but Peggy states she invited the couple. She says she is tired of fighting and affirms that family is more important than any building. Archie and Janine are behind the bar as Peggy, Phil, Roxy and Ben bring their belongings downstairs. Phil threatens Archie on his way out. Peggy heads back upstairs to collect her things.
