Bookseller Christine (Julia Stinshoff) has the blues: her 40th birthday is imminent, and her affair with Richard (Christoph Mory) is not going well either. Richard is married and makes no move to separate from his wife. To make matters worse, Christine cannot even share her grief with her best friend Doro (Julia-Maria Köhler) because she is keeping the affair a secret from her. When Christine is commissioned to write a column for a women's magazine, she meets the attractive editor-in-chief Sven (Patrick Rapold). And because Richard is still holding her off, Christine likes to have a little flirt with Sven.
