- Construction of a fire truckE348
Construction of a fire truckThe fire brigade fascinates many children: "Die Sendung mit der Maus" (WDR) shows how the blue light comes onto the roof, the water hose into the hold and the ladder onto the vehicle - on the day of work in a special edition. Armin Maiwald and the camera team of the "Sendung mit der Maus" are there when the truck rolls into the factory in Karlsruhe without any superstructures. First of all, the support legs come to the trolley: they prevent it from falling over when the long ladder is extended during use. So that the ladder can also be extended in all directions, a turntable must not be missing. In the next step, the fitters attach boxes, plates and mudguards to the truck's platform. The cab is completely disassembled and the electrical system is then wired. This is followed by the heart of the fire truck: a five-part turntable ladder with basket, headlights and remote control. It's still not done. Quality control follows: Do the lights work? Does the ladder hold heavy weights? Is everything in place even after an emergency stop? If everything is right, only one thing is missing: the mouse-orange sticker at the rear of the car. And finally the firefighters in Wittingen, Lower Saxony, are allowed to drive their new car out of the yard. "The fire engine with the mouse" is not the first vehicle to use the mouse: the mouse also flies around the world on an Airbus, the construction of which was shown in a factual story in 1999. For the 25th Mouse Birthday (1996), a mouse train also drove through the country. (Text: ARD)
