Municipal librarian Mathias Geyer was fatally stabbed while ha was cataloging with archivist Armin Hoppe, who plays down their recent row, a collection donated by the local noble family, whose expensive family tree he recently received on order. Missing are some authentic seventeenth century documents, scans of which he sent for authenticity-verification to professor Corinna Sander, who lies about them. Meanwhile Korbinian surprises Sven, who was asked for the same North Sea lecture selection, and chief Achziger, by near-cheating, but finally himself with the result.
