The first game, simply titled 'Kid Icarus', was released in 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and was well received despite poor sales. A sequel, Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, was also released for the Game Boy (GB). The franchise went on hiatus for almost two decades, but saw a revival with Kid Icarus: Uprising for the Nintendo 3DS. The franchise protagonist, Pit, has also been featured in multiple games in the Super Smash Bros series. Through our analysis of the series, we discover the series' rocky history.
