It was originally released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but was later released on the Wii U alongside its sequel, Bayonetta 2, which was announced exclusively for Wii U. The game was stuck in development hell, but was saved by Nintendo who further funded the game alongside Sega. The franchise has sold over 3 million units.
