The game was first released for PC in June 2000, followed by a Mac version and a modified version for the PlayStation 2. The game is revered, and was even named "Best PC Game of All Time" in PC Gamer's "Top 100 PC Games". The game sold more than 1 million copies, and had a sequel and three prequels: Deus Ex: Invisible War, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Deus Ex: The Fall, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
