A year ago, millionaire Oleg Filatov lost his wife and best friend. Now he leads a quiet lifestyle, running his own bookstore and trying to establish relationships with loved ones. But the past won't let him go. Investigator Ulyana Sokolova is still trying to prove that Filatov organized a lynching by cracking down on his wife's killer. The conflict between Filatov and Sokolova flares up with renewed vigor when a man becomes an unwitting witness to the death of a young student in the subway. Sokolova is sure that the girl was killed and Filatov is the main suspect. Soon, information comes from the medical examiners. The cause of death puts the investigation at a dead end - according to the expert opinion, the girl who fell under the subway train drowned.
