City employee Marie Sterckx hires Danni last-minute for her court proceedings against mayor Versmaelen, whom she falsely accused of physical abuse and actually tries to expose as corrupt in the case of a water purification plant tender. Corruption proves endemic, so her team vows to go deep. In between, Danni tries to work out how crone Magda Van Severen pawned or sold her beauty pageant coronet to get it back.
