Season 1 Ratings & Reviews
New York Times
Mike Hale
The story moves like a bullet toward the inevitable apprehension of the fugitive, flying past leaden dialogue and plot holes so quickly that if you enjoy the crime-drama formulas that are in play, you can enjoy the show.
Philadelphia Daily News
Ellen Gray
Chase is a very competent action-adventure.
Zap2it.com
Andrea Reiher
Action will only take the show so far, but eventually viewers need to care about the characters or they don't have a reason to keep watching and Chase turns into a show that gets watched as an afterthought, not as appointment viewing.
USA Today
Robert Bianco
If you're looking for a quick refresher course in what the U.S. Marshals do for a living, or just need to know how many fugitives they caught last year, Chase could be the show for you. But if you're looking for actual TV entertainment? Heavens, no.
Variety
Brian Lowry
Chase settles for inertia, when the task of capturing viewers would appear to call for bolder strokes.
Common Sense Media
Will Wade
Track, pursue, capture, repeat each week as needed. Yawn.
Collider
Ethan Anderton
The biggest issue with the series is that it's just not memorable or captivating enough to warrant an entire season.
HitFix
Daniel Fienberg
It isn't badly acted. I don't remember any of the performances at all. It isn't horribly written. I don't remember any of the dialogue or plot machinations.
Los Angeles Times
Robert Lloyd
It consists mainly of that very thing we are often aphoristically asked to cut to, with just enough banter and back-story to let you know that these are in fact humans we are watching and not just exceptionally well-coordinated robot drones.
San Francisco Chronicle
Tim Goodman
It's a decent hour of mindless entertainment.
TV Guide
Matt Roush
These boots are made for yawning. A sprint to nowhere, this generic catch-the-fugitive procedural has one asset: Kelli Giddish as the feisty macho heroine. Run, Kelli, to find better scripts.
New York Daily News
David Hinckley
Chase is as close as TV gets to a Western these days, and that's a good thing. It spins a good yarn.
AV Club
Emily St. James
But virtually everything else in the pilot that's not the direction or Giddish fails. In particular, the dialogue in the script is atrocious.
Newsday
Diane Werts
The characters couldn't be more bland, and atmospheric Texas settings are ill-used.
The Hollywood Reporter
Scott Timberg
The pilot also has a tendency to tell us too much, as if it was a primer on crimefighting (or on cop shows).
Reality Blurred
Andy Dehnart
And the only scary part is that there are amateur reality series that look more professionally produced.
PopMatters
Michael Landweber
In the end, Chase might want to toss out everything else and just give us a full hour of nonstop chase.
Boston Globe
Sarah Rodman
The Chase cast is led by a believably rough-and-tumble Kelli Giddish as Annie Frost.
