Bodyguard (2018) Ratings & Reviews

Definitely a great show I'm happy to have randomly discovered thanks to a handful of short form videos I'd seen on reddit or YouTube or something like that. Could see the twists coming here and there, so it wasn't very deep in that regard, but as far as the conspiracies and the story at large it's a very good mini series. Easily a 4/5!

Bodyguard is one of those shows that grabs you right away and refuses to let go. The opening scene alone is so tense it’ll have you leaning forward on the couch—and the rest of the series keeps that same edge‑of‑your‑seat energy. It’s a fast, intense political thriller that’s perfect for binge‑watching. Richard Madden is fantastic as David Budd, a war veteran turned police protection officer who’s clearly dealing with a lot of unresolved trauma. He’s assigned to protect a powerful politician he strongly disagrees with, which creates constant tension and some really uncomfortable (in a good way) moments. Madden plays Budd like a guy barely holding it together, and it makes everything feel unpredictable. Keeley Hawes is also great as the Home Secretary—smart, ambitious, and hard to trust. The show doesn’t really give you clear heroes or villains, which keeps things interesting. Just when you think you know where the story’s going, it throws another twist at you. The pacing is tight, the action feels intense without being overdone, and even the quieter scenes are loaded with suspense. The finale might stretch believability a bit, but honestly, by that point you’re probably too hooked to care. Overall, Bodyguard is a sharp, stressful, and highly addictive thriller. It’s short, intense, and incredibly well acted—definitely worth watching if you like shows that keep your heart rate up.
