Edmond, one of the Keepers of Belovodye, is ambushed while travelling through the world of men. He is killed with the help of Dante's water, a substance lethal for wizards. The murder was ordered by Vigus who made a secret deal with the verits who want to destroy all keepers. Edmond's death breaks an ancient spell and an unknown evil is set free. Meanwhile Artur publishes a book.
