Hugh Laurie plays him with pitch-perfect charm and bewilderment, balancing fake authority with flashes of reluctant brilliance. The real chaos, though, comes from the ship’s creator — a man so self-absorbed he makes the captain look competent by comparison. What follows is a masterclass in cosmic mismanagement, where every attempt to fix a problem just creates a bigger one, and survival depends more on luck than leadership. If you’re thinking this sounds like Red Dwarf re-imagined for the 21st century — you’re absolutely right.
