The young magician Schmollo has to prove himself among the people without his old teacher Philippi Aurani, and it suddenly goes wrong. The robber Mulian steals his magic book Mystereon, transforms Mayor Krähwinkel into a rooster, police advisor Kleff into a poodle and horticultural councilor Möhlmölf into a mole. Supported by the magic raven Marlox, the animals and Schmollo chase the thief and prevent him from giving the powerful book to the robber chief Montefugia, who wanted to use it to defeat the king.
