But in the very Bruges hospital he's eager to leave for their new home, lawyer Jeroen Vanhermen's old pa believes his wife was cheated out of a transplant heart which ended up with tycoon Eric De Stercke's wife. The precinct's new detective, Robert De Maegd from another province, pushes hard to pursue the investigation. De Sterke offers Jeroen a fat corporate job and insists he examines his ma's meanwhile fate case himself. More violent drama is to follow while Van In informally joins in the snooping fun.

Jong verdrietNow largely recovered Van In remains at home, Robert De Maegd takes his place as well as his desk to take charge of the case of a high-school girl Laura (17) found strangled and dragged to a woodland. Her wining ma and hot-tempered, domineering pa Raf Vanhee vaguely blame no-good lover Ryan Leeman. But she was pregnant and told so, to get away from home, to youth center friends, including him, decent admirer Bart Stijnen and his friend, medical resident Jeroen. Robert looses the commissioner's favor by openly suspecting Raf. Yet Van In, who steps in and solves the case, chooses him as suitable partner when returning to the Bruges precinct.

Cold caseRudy Banjert's three year old corps is found on a construction site, skull smashed. He was assumed emigrated after a diamond robbery. His ex-con accomplice Marcel Loenhout, now a publican, is genuinely surprised and points to the never-condemned Gino Bonte, who is found shot in bed. He had an adulterous affair with Jos Oprins's daughter and wife. Meanwhile the team prepares a welcome back surprise party for fully recovered Van In.

After receiving photographs of him and his secretary-mistress Sophie De Jongh, grim court bailiff Berend De Vliet sees his car bomb-torched. He reports a veiled blackmail demand to grant terminally ill Sioen's family delay of payment to loan shark Alain Venneman, which he firmly denied. Sioen's infuriated son Tom has an alibi. Shortly after De Vliet gets a tax audit and gets his skull smashed at night in the office. Robert suspects the widow, who has to retract knowing about the adultery. Van In keeps digging in the debt files, which yields several suspects.

Bram's mate, fellow Blue Devil (violent hardcore FC Club Brugge soccer 'supporter') Benny De Vleesschauwer, is found badly tortured in his own garage. Both are too scared to talk, but were part of a gross brawl at rival supporters gang Eastside's leader Ivan Baetens's café and part of idealistic social worker Dirk Seynaeve's community service program, starring super-tough ex-con Tony Buts. De valkenierRoyal court-acquainted count Leon de Forceville's falconer Joppe Devroe, in-living son of estate caretaker Roger, makes a fatal, only apparently accidental fall from the castle's falconry tower. Only the count's daughter Amber, who found the corps, seems deeply grieved, despite her impending wedding with rich contractor Cedric Schots. Van In enjoys taking charge of the high profile case to escape commissioner duties. Joppe was Amber's childhood best buddy, and send the count a recording of her having sex in the castle while Cedric was abroad. The count has an adulterous alibi, but it may be leak. Roger had a fight with his son, allegedly over Joppe's intention to leave on a world tour. So who knew more then he or she could accept?

MonstermoordTwo months after serving has latest child abuse jail sentence and moving back in with his mother Alda (72), Patrick Neirynck (42) is fatally stabbed in the back. The team soon has neighborhood suspects who threatened him, were victims or parents or feared he could bring out their own dirty secrets. Several alibis prove dodgy. Midge meanwhile feels he found love with Kim, but her dad warns him commitment may be a problem on her part.

De klasreünieLawyer Thierry Hendrickx (40) is found by his wife Charlotte at home naked, shot trough the head, clothes neatly folded. She admits they were meeting to discuss her adultery, but he didn't know it was with his best friend, revalidation therapist Koen Desmedt. Next day independent real estate agent Pieter Nys (40), a bachelor, is found by his Kakakh cleaner, shot exactly the same nude way in his home office. Koen suggests the murderer may be Stefaan Vergaelen, his and both victims' class mate whom they bullied and left stripped in their very strict elite high school's girls locker-room, but he emigrated to America. Mitch, heartbroken because Kim won't commit to him, takes a personal interest, having been bullied himself. He realizes the only name in all appointment books is an anagram for Stefaan and warns Koen, but two more fatal tragedies are to follow.

Een Dodelijk GeheimFrolicking in the surf, a young couple discovers the floating, fully dressed corps of handsome Hendrik Demeuter (18), who carried XTC and was knocked unconscious on the head. Just having buried Mitch, who fell to his death trying to prevent a murderer's suicide, the team must investigate and inform Hendrik's rich dad, strict conservative mayoral candidate Erwin Demeuter. Campaign leader Bruno Busschots openly worries about the potential PR damage. Hendrik's ex-fiancée Marianne Verbeeck says she agreed to keep silent having broken up with him since drugs made him violent but because he has a secret gay lover, Joris Gijs, to spare dad's campaign. Van In investigates the nightclub where Hendrik bought drugs and discovers an additional blackmail plot.

She was using a date service, like Kris Van Gool, a bachelor teacher and poet 'Kris Kras' living with his sister, who even provided him a fake alibi for his first lover's fatal fall. ICT expert Tom Smeekens plays a crucial part in opening an alternative reasoning.

He had a bar fight with cremate Kristof Landuyt over his girl Linda, being divorced himself, but he was too drunk to kill. Tom Smeekens is hardly made feel welcome as his bereaved police academy mate Mitch's successor by Neels, his new partner, while entrapping cocaine-dealing ex-con Joris Corneel. Federal chief inspector Kenis claims jurisdiction as the corps was on a military base. But his old feud with Van In is dwarfed by the link made with both cases after cocaine is found in Landuyt's bunk.

Van In mistrusts and informally accuses paranormal medium Mario Soetaert, whose vague indications help find Juliette's PJs in the home of Arne's recently fired, thieving gardener Cuppens, who is shortly after found in his car, throat slit. Arne's wife makes him agree to pay 1,000,000 Euros ransom, which isn't retrieved nor leads to any progress. Hannelore receives a DVD of Juliette at gun-point and a phone call for the release of corrupt magistrate Wilfried Machiels, whose lawyer Daems admitted his case is hopeless except using procedural tricks.

De Architect (deel 2)Van In gets suspended by the commissioner after being set up by 'clairvoyant' Mario, who planted a cuddly toy of the kidnapped girl which he stole from her 'inspuring' room. The prosecuting office desperately postpones former colleague Walter Machiels's formal accusation, which according to the kidnapper would mean the girl's death. Smeekens' computer analysis proves crucial to tracing the hiding place just in time to prevent the 'architect' from executing the kid.
