The Canary Island of El Hierro, a model for sustainability

It’s a paradise for hikers and divers. The smallest of the Canary Islands, El Hierro, has the well-deserved reputation of being one of the most sustainable islands in the world. About 60% of the land is protected and it’s the only island in the world to have operated autonomously for 28 days in a row thanks to wind and water power.
