This comedy series, which follows the exploits of employees at London's fictional "Grace Brothers" department store, is full of sexual innuendo, slapstick, visual gags, and double entendres. Much of the show's humor parodies Britain's class system, and many of the show's characters are based on stereotypes of the period, including the effeminate Mr. Humphries and the rich, but stingy, store owner.

    "Do You Take This Man?"Mrs. Slocombe thinks she's finally got her man, a bouzouki player in a Greek restaurant. The staff plan a reception at the store to help keep costs down, and her American uncle plans on giving the happy couple a house. Before they can leave for the church, however, the best man arrives with bad news, forcing Mr. Tebbs to don the garb of a Greek vicar and Mr. Humphries that of the bridegroom.
  • Shedding the Load

    Shedding the LoadSales are down, again, and the management conclude that they must let one of the staff members go. Also, they decide to leave it up to the staff to decide who should go. Facing the difficult decision, the staff convene at the store on the weekend and battle it out.

    A Bliss GirlThere's a new perfume display at Grace Brothers called 'Bliss' but there's no 'Bliss Girl' to man the display. With no other alternative, Mr. Humphries is placed in charge of the display. And to top it off Captain Peacock has replaced Mr.Humphries. It's going to be a chaotic day on the Ladies and Gents floor.
