This closest Flemish equivalent of "Third watch" (but 9 years older) is about the work of a Fire Department in a Belgian town, comprised mainly of volunteers but lead by a professional cadre, the grumpy Adjudant (as in France a rank just under Second Lieutenant) Maurice Haegeman being in daily charge and trying to impose a type of discipline even military professionals wouldn't stomach easily nowadays, under the authority of colonel Walter Halleux who is more concerned with political liaison, budget etc. Naturally the more personal aspects of life in the fire station (bunking, waiting...) and in some cases interwoven private lives also provide story lines, besides the various operations: fire alerts (false and true), kitty in a tree, removing a wasps nest etc.

E1Part 8Colonel Halleux is grumpy as alderman François forces him to buy Tiene's tenure by accepting a political protege for a promotion two firemen aspire, one even perfectly qualified. Police and fire department are getting desperate about a local pyromaniac who keeps striking all around. The biggest arson is in the circus tent, when Ronnie's kid son is attending with his mother, who finally appreciates the rescue. Primes suspect is an artist who quit after the circus director passed him over, but the real culprit is caught lurking around the crime site. - Part 10
E3Part 10Ronnie Abbeloos got permission to attend the court in Brussels about his divorce, but fails to return within a reasonable time, jealous as his slut wife Anouck flirts with any man who shows the slightest interest, rather gets drunk and goes parachute jumping. Thus Wim Van der Straeten looses rare permission, conditional on Ronnie's return, to leave early and attend his brother's shop opening reception, even gets late and is recalled. The colonel is in a grim mood, having found Tiene kissing with a younger man and accepted his wife's crushing terms for a separation. After inspecting a cross-dresser's kinky nightclub Finesse, the adjutant makes sure Ronnie is found drunk and faces a costly sanction. - Part 11
E4Part 11The colonel is lonely, divorced from his wife and studly Dominic having 'stolen' his PR lover. reinstates Ronnie, warning any further drunkenness would mean the sack. A family as been trapped in their car, crashing into a truck releasing steel pipes crashing into them. It turns out the order of rescuing didn't work out for one victim. The adjutant blames himself, the colleagues stress nobody could known which option would work out best in advance.
