Airwolf Ratings & Reviews

Hello,...The series "Airwolf", was a childhood memory in my life that truly inspired and caused me to realize the for all the bad people and things that are in the world today,..back then, it was an ascending, inspiration in my life, because, I chose good over evil, I began exploring my personal beliefs and morals, and knew it was just a television series, but for some odd reason, a child then in the 80's, I felt and feel today that the series is still one of the top 5 shows that I enjoyed as a child. My thanks to "Plex TV for the app on my phone that I can almost go to instantaneously, so that I can relax and watch most of my favorite shows, like Airwolf.

🚁Airwolf beats Knight Rider any day of the year, even though I think KITT is awesome. The ship's heroic action is great to watch. But stick with the first three seasons. The fourth season doesn't even have any new footage of the ship. It's a shame that anyone ever bothered to continue the show under that detriment. How can you have a show about a super-secret helicopter that doesn't actually have a helicopter in it? Avoid the fourth season if you really love Airwolf. Although there were some plot problems with the first three seasons, especially when Caitlyn was brought on board and kept dating murderous evil men and falling into danger wherever she went, it's nothing compared to the fourth season. For some unexplained reason, the entire original crew is done away with (literally), except for Caitlyn, who vanishes (poof) without a trace. (Maybe her dating taste finally caught up with her?) At any rate, the fourth season is so obviously a cheap imitation of the real thing, it should have never been called Airwolf. It's not.

Airwolf delivered exactly what ’80s action television promised: high‑octane adventure, memorable characters, and a sleek, unforgettable helicopter at the centre of it all. Where Blue Thunder struggled to find its footing, Airwolf thrived by embracing a wider range of storylines and exotic locations, often involving covert missions for the CIA or desperate pleas for help from those with nowhere else to turn. The original core cast—Jan‑Michael Vincent, Ernest Borgnine, and Alex Cord—anchored the show with strong chemistry and distinct personalities. Their dynamic gave the series heart beneath the hardware, making each mission feel personal rather than just another action set piece. Though later seasons introduced casting changes and tonal shifts, the show always tried to preserve the spirit of its early years. At its best, Airwolf was exciting, stylish, and boldly imaginative, a standout entry in the era of high‑concept action TV.

Saw it on TV in the ’80s and it felt like Top Gun met Cold War espionage, with a helicopter that could outfly your imagination. Stringfellow Hawke, a brooding ex-CIA pilot with a tragic past, flies the Airwolf, a sleek, heavily armed, supersonic helicopter built for covert missions. With Dominic Santini (Ernest Borgnine) by his side and “The Firm” pulling the strings, Hawke takes on intelligence ops while secretly searching for his missing brother, St. John. The tone? Gritty, moody and unmistakably ’80s. The synth heavy score, slow-motion takeoffs and aerial combat sequences made every episode feel like a mini action movie. Jan-Michael Vincent played it cool and haunted, while Borgnine brought warmth and old school charm. Watching it again feels like flipping through your childhood’s action packed scrapbook. The helicopter was the star, but the emotional undercurrent, grief, loyalty, justice, gave it staying power. And yes, that theme song still slaps.
