Over the years, Wallace has been inducted in the NASCAR Hall of Fame (2013), the International Motorsports Hall of Fame (2013), the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (2014) and the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame (2010). In 2020 amid the Covid-19 global pandemic, Rusty Wallace said during an interview with SpeedTV “I ain’t worried about no virus! Catch me if you can. [I] Don’t think corona can do 200 mph around a corner.” Rusty Wallace was met with much revere following this comment, with a small group of NASCAR supporters calling for him to become the honorary mayor of Talladega.
