- EdwardMarch 23, 2025It has moments of fun but has a lot of cringeworthy and over the top moments that make it hard to watch.
- Alex | Pop Culture BrainJanuary 31, 2025Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon are throwing it back to the 2000s. Did it work? First off, I appreciate Prime Video for investing in comedies like this, because basically no one is making throwbacks like this with big name stars anymore. And I’d say this wedding clash comedy, written and directed by Nicholas Stoller, who made Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Bros, is like a B- echo of his previous work, which falls neatly into the 2000s and 2010s Apatow genre. Compete with the R rating and abundance of punchy swearing. Which by the way Reese Witherspoon is great at. She's acerbic but still magnetic in all the right ways. It kind of makes me mad she hasn't been making comedies like this her whole career. And the rest of the cast is full of killers including Rory Scovel, Jimmy Tatro, Keyla Monterosso Mejia, and Jack McBrayer. But was it funny? Well, it did get some chuckles out of me throughout, mostly from the smaller moments in the first half of the film. But I’d say it was as laugh out loud hilarious as I was hoping for. Though Stoller does deserve credit for servicing a lot of characters with full emotional arcs. That said I think the humor is way too broad and contrived at times, which clashed with the genuine grounded emotion Stoller was going for elsewhere. Some of the big comedy set pieces are just straight up cringeworthy and Stoller didn’t have a handler on switching back and forth from big comedy to emotional and dramatic. Also some of the plot mechanics, require big logic leaps from the audience. In the end this was a mixed bag that I don’t regret watching but I probably wouldn’t be quick to recommend, unless you REALLY love Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon.
- TheRandyMarch 14, 2025Fun watch.
- MeghannBFebruary 15, 2025More cowbell! Haters gonna hate but Will Ferrell fans (like me) will have a real good time watching. A nice mix of comedy legends and new faces, and a plot that’s ridiculous and familiar, yet easy to watch because of it. Fun weekend watch
- prosewallFebruary 24, 2025Basic premise is fundamentally flawed and difficult to get past.
- RyezooFebruary 3, 2025That was some of the most fun I’ve had watching Will Ferrell in a movie in years. This movie goes on a bit too long but there’s enough laugh out loud scenes and jokes that makes the whole thing fun. Having just got married in the past year, this worked for us. This movie ain’t going to blow you away but it’s definitely worth of watch.
- Adrian TaricaniMarch 8, 2025Absolute rubbish
- Brett WatsonFebruary 28, 2025This movie just worked for me, the cast were stellar the jokes weren’t all one note and both Reece and Will hit all the required tones just right! It’s a good easy watch!
- Carl MeyerFebruary 27, 2025Hilarious 😂
- MichielFebruary 15, 2025I actually quite liked this one, loving Will Ferrell. Although at first it seemed a bit 'standard' it brought some smiles to our face and is really fun for an evening of movie time.
- SlosenhousenFebruary 8, 2025Expected a lot more from this cast. Very disappointing.
- Eldon McGuinnessFebruary 2, 2025Looking at the cast lineup, I thought it would be good for a laugh. However, my hopes were soon dashed with what is more of a series of unfortunate events precipitated by the meddling and retaliation of Reese Witherspoon's character. Even if you love Will Ferrell, this is just a hard pass.
- 匚卂尺ㄥJanuary 31, 2025💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 There have been worse movies on Prime, but not many. The real issue here is there's nothing new, just a hodgepodge of much better wedding themed comedies. The plot, such as it is, is a wedding venue is double-booked. Hilarity ensues, or at least it was supposed to. The leads are playing variations on characters they've done before and feel like they're sleepwalking through this film. The supporting cast is so hammy Jews and Muslims will avoid this movie on kosher/halal grounds. Given the talent level involved responsibility for this mess lies with Nick Stoller, the director. Granted, the script did him no favors, but as director he should have pushed the writer (and actors) to do better. I suffered through this movie so you won't have to.
