- Yashika Rajput6d agoI had never watched an anime movie before this one. In fact, I never really thought I would. But then came Your Name—the first anime film I ever watched, and the one that completely changed my view. It wasn’t even my idea to watch it. It was my boyfriend who suggested it. He’s really into anime, and he literally forced me to give it a try. I was a new teen back then—practically a child—and I thought, “Okay, maybe just this once.” So I chose Your Name. But honestly, the concept was a little confusing at first. The whole idea of two strangers switching bodies? It didn’t make sense to me initially. Ten minutes into the movie, I paused. I felt like I was missing something. So, I did what many people wouldn’t—I went and read the entire summary. Yes, spoilers and all. I wanted to understand it before diving deeper. And I’m so glad I did. Once I restarted the movie, this time knowing what was coming, something magical happened—I got hooked. I couldn’t move from my place. It was like the screen had a spell on me. The connection between Mitsuha and Taki, the way their lives tangled without ever truly meeting... it felt so surreal yet so emotionally real. I still remember laughing quietly to myself during the body-swapping scenes. The awkwardness, the confusion—it was all so cute and funny. But then, the story slowly turned deeper, more emotional, more breathtaking. The twist, the separation, the longing—they all hit me harder than I expected. Even though I knew what was going to happen, watching it unfold felt brand new. The visuals were stunning, every frame like a painting. The soundtrack still echoes in my mind. And more than anything, the feeling this movie gave me—it stayed. Your Name wasn’t just a movie for me. It was my introduction to a whole new world. A world of emotions, imagination, and storytelling that’s different from anything else. And even now, years later, every scene holds a special place in my heart. “If you’ve never watched anime, let Your Name be your first—just like it was mine.”

- lilllamahJuly 2, 2025I saw a short of it on YouTube, and was a little intrigued, spent the first 30minutes of it laughing over the absurdity of Taki discovering he was in a womans body - and immediately going full hentai.. But after that, the man who cuts onions showed up. If you just wanna see something beautiful, put it on mute and enjoy the scenery - if you want to see a beautiful story then don't mute and follow along - even if the subtitles might detract a bit from whats happening.

- Tubeman72May 2, 2025The anime hit Your Name (Kimi no na wa., 2016) has captured hearts all over the world. In Japan alone, the film shattered records and earned box office numbers typically reserved for a Hayao Miyazaki release. In the Netherlands, it had already been screened at several film festivals, but eventually, a distributor had the courage to give it a full theatrical release. And we couldn't be happier! Your Name is about two teenagers. First, we meet Mitsuha, a girl living in the mountain village of Itomori with her father (the town’s mayor), her grandmother, and her younger sister. It’s an idyllic place, but like many her age, Mitsuha longs for an exciting life in the big city. Taki, the film’s second main character, leads just such a life: he attends high school in Tokyo and works part-time at a restaurant. One day, Mitsuha remembers a strange dream. When she talks to her family and friends, it turns out she acted very oddly the day before. As this happens more frequently, Mitsuha starts recalling details from the dream. In her dream, she is Taki. But... the dream isn’t a dream at all — it’s real: Taki and Mitsuha are randomly swapping bodies! Because neither of them can control when it happens, nor is there any clear pattern to it, they initially feel confused and unsure. They don’t dare to talk about it to anyone — after all, people already laugh at their strange behavior. Eventually, though, the two find a way to communicate. They leave messages for each other and Mitsuha keeps a diary in Taki’s phone using a mobile app. By now, they understand what is happening — but the why remains a mystery. A special bond forms between them, a friendship between two people who have both never and always met... After a funny and slightly whimsical first half, Your Name suddenly takes a dramatic turn, and the stakes are raised significantly. Everything you’ve seen up to that point must be reconsidered in a new light, and the emotional impact is profound. The pace quickens, tension builds, and nothing is certain anymore. Your Name is not only a masterfully crafted story, but also a visual spectacle. From detailed drawings of Mitsuha’s bedroom to breathtaking scenes of bustling Tokyo, the stunning landscapes, and mesmerizing shots of the starry sky — this is the kind of film you could watch ten times and still discover something new each time. It’s been created with such care, love, and attention that the result is overwhelmingly romantic, dazzling, and deeply moving. You can’t help but fall head over heels for this film.
