- ርልዪረAugust 11, 2026Its insane to me that this is the first major motion picture about George Washington. Insane. The history is so fascinating and has so many crazy events that are almost hard to believe actually happened in this time period. Great cast. Loved Kelsey Grammer and Andy Serkis. Serkis was a standout to me. One of the better non-CGI roles I have seen him in. Right up there with Andor for me. Franklin William Miller is shockingly good for it being his first movie. Action was great and felt big scale budget, but I am pretty sure it wasn't a massive budget. I found the changes that they made to history fine. Don't love it being changed, but then when I think "how would you do this in a movie with out making it 4 hours and boring" I really have to give credit to the screen writers. It was tight and really fun. Overall, really strong film with good pace, fun cast and a fascinating part of US history most people don't know much about.

- Mister ArnAugust 14, 2026Young Washington is the story of a man destined to do great things and eventually become known to history. It is told with a fair amount of hero worship, particularly in the second half, where Washington is portrayed as nearly invincible. Despite the somewhat heroic treatment, it was an enjoyable story, told well enough to hold my interest.
- Patrick D.August 16, 2026This was better than I thought it would be but worse than I had hoped at the same time. The script had a few "made for TV" moments which I expected considering how small the budget was. On the other hand it looked really impressive considering how small the budget was. Had a great time with it. One of the things I think that holds it back is that the Virginia milita members who Washington was close to could've been a better cast and utilized in the script. There were a few attempts to bring a little levity to the film with them but it was kind of stiff and undeveloped. Thumbs up overall from me though. Can we get a 1776 sequel maybe?
