Wilhelm Tell Rezensionen & Wertungen
- Zokkiie25. Oktober 2025Pretty meh overall — not awful, but definitely not great. It’s got a few nice moments and looks good at times, but the story never really clicks. Feels a bit slow and forced, like it’s trying too hard to be deep. Solid effort, just not something I’d rush to watch again.
- Shaydeknight12. Oktober 2025This film version of William Tell is a mythic spectacle that is decent enough but flawed in numerous ways. The production design, sweeping vistas, and battle staging are consistently impressive, and Claes Bang anchors the film with a quietly tormented Tell while the principal cast do solid work even when underwritten. But ultimately, the film lacks strong storytelling. Visually, it’s beautiful: the landscapes, period costumes, castles, and battles all do their job in transporting you to a convincing medieval world. Even its more outlandish visual flourishes like armours and stylized costumes sometimes work to give it a larger-than-life feel. I appreciate that the dialogue reaches for a more elevated register than modern speech, which is often too vulgar or familiar for a period piece. It sometimes stumbles, but there’s a sincerity and effort here that’s missing from many “medieval fantasy-lite” films. The problem is that it’s simply not executed perfectly: some lines feel more like a high-schooler’s imitation of Shakespeare than genuine medieval gravitas. Still, it was a worthy attempt. I appreciate the attempt to give Tell a backstory, and in this case, they went with the "good crusader" trope which is very much in line with the 1991, 2010, and 2018 Robin Hoods. Costner's version as well as Egerton's do the same thing this Tell movie does: they take too many liberties with the legend that suspension of disbelief becomes a requirement rather than an asset. Further, they all use the crusader narrative as a convenient way to insert non-European characters into the film, a choice that seems less like a fresh and compelling artistic vision and more like lazy diversity quota-filling. Overstuffed with half-developed subplots and too many characters, the narrative diffuses its emotional stakes (the son, for example, never feels young or vulnerable enough), and the ending leans heavily on sequel bait. The movie is entertaining and often beautiful, but ambition outpaces coherence. It's excellent at moments but trips over its own attempts to be grand.

- SALVO GERMANY23. August 2025Interesting movie,worth a watch
- Arnaud19. August 2025I don't know how they managed to do this, but they manage to make sexy a single event of Swiss history. Ok, it's not the most accurate version of what happened OK, I guess a swiss bowman now has an english accent But hey: it's something that came from my country... at least it can help the Americans not to confuse Switzerland with Sweden anymore, I guess...
- rober545712. August 2025Very enjoyable
- Audilino29. Juni 2025Not really matching with the History of Switzerlands National Hero, but as medival Action (B) movie quite okey
- Gen Lock22. Juni 2025it was fun and a bit of a peak into the Swiss Austrian relationships.
- ahwoo2. April 2025Decent, great military costumes. A bit of a stretch for historical accuracy and I didn't understand why they used Shakespearian language for much of the film (highbrow intentions ?_
- Albert176426. März 2025Family liked it so much and hopes there is another one!!
- Lee Robinson9. März 2025The unnecessary Latin and lack of contractions in speech is presumably intended to feel authentically medieval, but just adds hurdles to a cast already bogged down with cliche and 2 dimensional ‘good’ and ‘evil’ characters. Despite the best efforts of a fantastic cast, the whole project is a 90s relic which swiftly devolves into formulaic tedium
