Her mum Marion (Walters) has had a bellyful of Rose-Lynn's Nashville nonsense. Forced to take responsibility, Rose-Lynn gets a cleaning job, only to find an unlikely champion in the middle-class lady of the house (Okonedo).

- Kevin WardJuly 14, 2025Jessie Buckley is absolutely phenomenal as Rose-Lynn a budding Country (Western) singer from Glasgow. She struggles to balance the responsibilities that come with raising two children on her own along with chasing her dreams. Though this treads familiar territory of similar, I found this to be refreshingly restrained in it storytelling. There’s no shortcuts to stardom here, no golden ticket discovered or a fated chance encounter that leads to her big break. Really good film and it can’t be overstated how amazing Buckley’s voice and her overall performance is. I don’t even like country music and I was looking up youtube videos of her live performances of the songs from this film. Highly recommend unless you’re absolutely allergic to country music.
