Who's Your Caddy? Ratings & Reviews
Manuel Frangis

I just watched Who’s Your Caddy? and I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This movie is ridiculous in the best way. It is over the top, loud, and totally not trying to be anything serious. And that is exactly why I had so much fun watching it. It knows what kind of comedy it is and leans into it hard. If you are in the mood for something dumb, bold, and packed with personality, this movie delivers. The story follows C-Note, a hip hop mogul played by Big Boi from Outkast, who tries to join a fancy, private country club in the South. The people who run the club do not want him there, and that kicks off the whole movie. C-Note is not having it. He brings his crew, his energy, and his own style straight into the middle of this stuck up, old money world. The clash between the two sides is what makes the movie so entertaining. Big Boi is hilarious in this role. He has great timing, he knows how to deliver a punchline, and he makes C-Note feel like a real character. Confident, flashy, and ready to take over the golf course. Watching him go toe to toe with the uptight country club members is nonstop fun. He completely takes over every scene he is in and keeps the energy high from start to finish. The rest of the cast is also stacked with funny people. Faizon Love, Terry Crews, Sherri Shepherd, and Andy Milonakis all bring their own style to the comedy. Everyone is just having a blast, and that vibe comes through on screen. Every character is turned up to eleven, and it works because the movie never tries to tone anything down. It is loud, colorful, and full of ridiculous moments that had me laughing out loud. The comedy is definitely wild. It is not trying to be clever or subtle. It is in your face, with sight gags, over the top characters, and jokes that go for the biggest reaction. Some people might say it is too much, but I think that is what makes it so funny. It has no interest in playing it safe. It goes all in with every scene, whether it is a chaotic golf match, a dance off, or just a straight up roast session between characters. The golf angle is also just fun. Seeing someone like C-Note completely shake up the traditions of a quiet, strict golf club makes for great comedy. The movie has a lot of fun flipping the country club world upside down, and it is satisfying to watch the characters who act like they run everything slowly lose control. There are a few moments that even feel a little bit inspiring, as weird as that sounds. It is about breaking into spaces where people think you do not belong, and doing it on your own terms. I give Who’s Your Caddy? 5 out of 5 stars because it made me laugh the whole way through. It is loud, bold, silly, and full of great performances from a cast that clearly just wanted to make something fun. Overall Who’s Your Caddy? is an underrated comedy that is all about going against the system with swagger and attitude. It is not deep, but it is hilarious and a great time if you are in the mood to laugh and not think too hard. I loved it.

The lackadaiscal plot, cheesy jokes and lack of originality make Caddy nothing more than a trashy comedy, but at least it's occasionally an entertaining one.
Metro Times (Detroit, MI)

Who's Your Caddy isn't just a wretched exercise in formulaic hack writing, lazy acting and appalling stereotyping -- it's also just sort of icky.

[A] depressing, stereotype-filled reworking of Caddyshack.
Boston Phoenix
Tom Meek
Nearly every element of the plot rips off the mangy 1980 comedy Caddyshack, right down to Ted Knight's controlling country-club patron and Rodney Dangerfield's nouveau riche upstart.

Who's Your Caddy? is the sort of film Homer Simpson might watch, perhaps on a triple bill with Hail to the Chimp and The School of Hard Knockers.

The players appear to be having a good time, though the situation is too sitcom-familiar to be funny.

Big Boi's awful golf comedy is way below par.

Operates in broad, one-note, stereotyped lowest common denominator strokes that yield very little in the way of funny.

Instantly disposable.

There's probably more wit and pointed social commentary in the average four-minute OutKast song than in the entirety of Who's Your Caddy?
New York Daily News
C-Note is essentially a one-note character. And that note is flat.

A fiasco that never met a crass stereotype it didn't milk for lowest-common-denominator laughs.

Joe Leydon
A subpar attempt to bring a hip-hop twist to Caddyshack-style slobs-versus-snobs comedy.
Boston Globe
Wesley Morris
The movie decides, after 30 minutes of black people clowning like it's 1939, to be a melodrama about injustice and, sigh, redemption.
AV Club
Steven Hyden
The latest entry in the storied 'white people are like this, black people are like that' comedy subgenre.

Ultimately this is utterly forgettable stuff, not even managing to fulfill its mandate of mindless summer fun.

Where Caddy really shines is in the supporting comedy ensemble, which acts like a demented Greek chorus, tossing out bits of incongruous dialogue that hit the funny bone more often than not.
