- Patrick Wai6. Juni 2026This is a mediocre Bronson movie with just enough style to make you wish it were better. The plot is very straightforward, and even the twists never amount to much, so the movie mostly ends up leaning on mood, chases, and Bronson’s face to keep things alive. To its credit, there are some good car and foot chases, and it was fun seeing so much of New Orleans and the Virgin Islands from 50 years ago, because the location photography gives the film more personality than the script does. That lines up with a lot of outside reactions too: even mixed reviews tend to praise the Morricone score, the opening chase, and the locations, while admitting the story is pretty bare-bones and the pacing drags. There is also not much dialogue, which could have worked if the movie were more tense or more visually inventive, but instead it often just feels thin. Bronson and Telly Savalas carry the whole thing by sheer presence. Everyone else feels either flat, badly dubbed, or half asleep. That seems to be a pretty common view too, with one review noting that Bronson dominates the movie mostly by force of personality while the others fade into the wallpaper. It is not Bronson’s best, not even close. There are moments, and if you like Eurocrime you can see why some people defend it, but for me it is mostly a middling revenge thriller with a few strong ingredients and not enough payoff. More interesting as a time capsule than as a movie.

Jeff Heston, ein hochspezialisierter Killer, überlebt einen Anschlag seines Auftraggebers Jerry Coogan. Er stellt fest, dass seine von ihm sehr geliebte Frau Vanessa ein Verhältnis mit Coogan hatte, wird aber festgenommen. Nach zwei Jahren im Gefängnis setzt er seinen dort geschmiedeten Plan in die Tat um: Er tötet die, die Verrat an ihm begangen haben, allen voran Coogan, und verschont allein Vanessa, die inzwischen die Frau des New Orleanser Gangsterbosses Al Weber ist.
