Viking Wolf Ratings & Reviews
- jackmeatDecember 3, 2025My quick rating - 5.4/10. This horror-thriller movie centers around a young girl named Thale (Elli Rhiannon Müller Osborne) who becomes a witness to a brutal murder that takes place at a party. As the story unfolds, Thale finds herself caught up in a mysterious and dangerous world, where she must navigate through the darkness and horror to uncover the truth behind the killer's identity. This is where my first gripe pops up: interviewing the witnesses from the party, which was unnecessarily long and drawn out. While the premise of the movie is intriguing, the execution falls short in many aspects. The pacing of the story is slow and uneven. The acting performances are also lackluster, with many of the characters feeling one-dimensional and underdeveloped. One of the film's redeeming qualities is its visual effects, particularly in the werewolf scenes. The creature design is impressive, and the creepy stare-downs with the werewolf add a level of tension and suspense to the movie. As long as you don't get overly worked up about the CGI, which is also uneven. That word is a general trend in this flick. Sometimes the creatures looked perfect in the scene, while in others, the graphics are less than stellar. There was little in the way of surprise going on throughout, and you know exactly where this movie was heading. I am guessing that writer/director Stig Svendsen has seen An American Werewolf in London a few times since it attempts to capture the anxiety of the inevitable transformation that is upcoming. It never gets nearly to the level of the classic werewolf story but does borrow from that portion of it, even to the point of a familiar-looking finale. Overall, "Viking Wolf" is a mediocre horror-thriller that fails to fully deliver on its potential. With a slow pace, underdeveloped characters, and lackluster acting, the film falls short of its aspirations. However, the impressive creature design and suspenseful werewolf scenes make it worth a watch for fans of the horror genre.
