Van Helsing Ratings & Reviews
- flavo43December 11, 2025Van Helsing (2004) is an energetic, gothic action-adventure that thrives on its charismatic leads and over-the-top monster mayhem. Hugh Jackman brings brooding charm to the legendary monster hunter, while Kate Beckinsale delivers a fierce, stylish performance that complements the film’s pulpy tone. The story is entertaining, blending classic Universal Monsters into a fast-paced quest filled with vampires, werewolves, and mad science. However, the film’s heavy reliance on early-2000s CGI often works against it. Some effects feel dated and overly cartoonish, pulling viewers out of the otherwise atmospheric world. Had more practical effects been used—especially for creature designs—the film might have achieved a more grounded, immersive feel. Still, Van Helsing remains fun, loud, and unapologetically campy, offering a wild ride for fans of supernatural action. It may not be perfect, but its enthusiasm and memorable characters keep it enjoyable.
- Harish CousalNovember 25, 2025A stylish monster mash that embraces its gothic chaos. Not subtle, not quiet - just pure supernatural fun with attitude and big-screen energy.
- ananyaOctober 18, 2025hey i'd let aleera, marishka & verona eat me any day
- StephenAugust 7, 2025Decent story, cool graphics like the different take on Dracula and Frankenstein with a werewolf.
- foxlightningNovember 5, 2025Corny but every creature design is amazing and you get them all, best werewolf movie design Speaking of those werewolves they can claw and bite me any day
- RichardOctober 12, 2025Saw this one in the cinema, and yeah, it had everything lined up to be a monster movie franchise powerhouse. Hugh Jackman as a Vatican backed monster hunter, Kate Beckinsale in full gothic warrior mode and a rogues’ gallery of Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, werewolves and Mr. Hyde all crammed into one film. It was loud, chaotic, and kind of glorious. Later picked up the DVD, and it’s still fun to revisit. The opening black and white sequence? Pure horror homage. And the werewolf transformations? Surprisingly cool. But man… it could’ve been so much more. The world building was there. The setup for sequels was practically begging for it. You had Van Helsing, Dracula’s brides, cursed bloodlines and a whole Vatican monster hunting operation. Instead, it just fizzled out. No follow up, no expanded universe, just one big swing that didn’t quite land. Still, it’s got charm. It’s campy, overstuffed and unapologetically theatrical. Not a great movie, but definitely a fun one. And if you’re into monster mashups with a gothic flair, it scratches the itch. Could’ve been a franchise. Ended up a cult curiosity, but I’ll still find it a shame that it didn't become more.
- cursedbagsSeptember 18, 2025Wolverine The Monster Hunter.
- Richard ThorntonOctober 20, 2025Way too much obvious cgi, bad acting, bad script. So why do I like this so much? Can’t explain it.
- Clayton Thomas SlaughterOctober 12, 2025A fun monster movie. There's a few plot holes if you over analyze, but still very enjoyable. And there's some amazing one liners in here that I still repeat to this day.
