Where to Watch Underworld: Rise of the Lycans
- cyberbillpJanuary 25, 2026I liked the film well enough. Rhona Mitra is awesome as ever. But what really burns my ass is them splashing the credits on screen for the ENTIRE film!!! WTF!!?? At the climax of the story, there is a closeup of Sonja/Rhona''s face and they splatter a producers name squarely across her face, seconds later as we see Victor presumably mourning, and again another producers name. They did this the whole movie. Didn't anybody review this before release and notice how this practice destroys the emotional flow of the film? ouch. Good movie otherwise.

While the idea of exploring this backstory had promise, the execution feels uneven. Much of the lore had already been teased in earlier films, so when presented here, it often comes across as a rehash rather than fresh material. The narrative delivers new details, but the pacing and structure make it feel fragmented, as though pieced together from hints rather than fully realized storytelling. Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy give strong performances, adding gravitas to the conflict, yet the emotional impact doesn’t quite land. Visually, the film retains the franchise’s gothic style and intense action sequences, but the lack of narrative surprise weakens its overall effect. While it expands the mythology, Rise of the Lycans ultimately struggles to justify its standalone story.
