Kate Beckinsale’s Selene is a striking lead, combining elegance with ferocity, and the combat scenes showcase the film’s flair for choreography and design. However, despite the promise of its rich mythology, the narrative feels rushed, leaving little time to fully explore the complex world it introduces. The lore of the vampire–lycan conflict is compelling, but underdeveloped, with character motivations and backstory often sacrificed for spectacle. While the film succeeds as a visually impressive action piece, it misses the opportunity to deepen its world-building. Still, Underworld remains a stylish entry in the genre, memorable for its atmosphere and kinetic energy.
