I never played the uncharted games, but this movie is extremely enjoyable. Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland are a great duo, (This is what made me like Mark Wahlberg), and though a cliche plot, it's great action and humor make it the greatest video game movie ever.

This was entertaining enough, enjoyed the parkour. Gets a four out of five from me.

Loses points in believability and practicality regarding stunts. But evens out in creativity and fun treasure hunting puzzle tropes.

Uncharted is a light, fast moving treasure hunt with just enough plot to link things together. On that level, it actually works pretty well. Tom Holland is well suited to the earnest young adventurer role. He sells the enthusiasm, and his physical work is genuinely impressive. The climbing, jumping, and scrambling feel natural rather than CGI-enhanced. He has the same kind of agile presence that Mark Wahlberg had in his younger action roles. Wahlberg himself does fine as the more world weary mentor, though he's essentially playing his usual persona. It works, but there's always the sense that he's delivered this performance several times before. The Barcelona puzzle trail is one of the film's highlights. It embraces the absurd logic of video game design. Hidden mechanisms, elaborate clues, centuries old engineering that still works perfectly: it makes very little real world sense. The backstory implies a handful of sailors somehow built complex devices meant to survive five hundred years untouched and undiscovered. But that's somehow part of the charm. The film espouses the silliness instead of apologizing for it, and the result feels close to the experience of solving puzzles in the games. That same video game logic drives the action. We have sequences with Drake leaping between falling crates, rope swings, and jumping from handrail to handrail on tallships being hauled by helicopters. They all push into outright fantasy. Yet they're great fun to watch. Uncharted works best when it commits to spectacle and momentum rather than realism. When it does that, it captures the playful tone of the video games. There are also plenty of nods for fans, small references, familiar moves, and visual echoes of earlier entries. There's even a cameo by the original voice and motion capture artist who played Drake in the games. They're all handled lightly and don't overwhelm the story. The film is clearly trying to honour the source without becoming trapped by it. Overall, though, it's a fun ride. The tone lands somewhere among Raiders of the Lost Ark serial action, National Treasure quests, and modern video game spectacle. It's not especially deep, but it's lively, colourful, and consistently entertaining. As video game adaptations go, it is one of the more enjoyable ones.

There is not a chance I will ever stop talking about these feminist lies and how they've infiltrated the culture. There is no world, past or present, where a woman can grab a 200 pound man and toss him around like a beagle's chew toy. It hasn't happened. It can't happen. It will never happen. Ever. But that's what feminism would have you believe. And that's what this (and every) movie is dripping with. There is also ZERO suspension of disbelief wherein I may accept that it could happen only for the purpose of enjoying a story. I'll believe a two-foot green man from Dagobah can train a white guy to lift spaceships out of swamps with his mind sooner than I can believe any woman is capable of the same things men can do. Both are fairy tales, but only one is concocted to satisfy a social propaganda agenda. I live in the same cosmos you do. You know it's a lie. I know it's a lie. Feminism is further ruining an art form that struggles to tell new stories or retain it's dwindling audience. Oh yeah. The movie. Even without the 'empowered' women who, in addition to their feminist lying, clearly struggle acting with discernible competence, this movie is a little too "National Treasure"-y for me. But I like Wahlberg, Banderas, and that Spider-Man kid. One and a half.

Poor casting and a weak story makes it below average Adventure Movie.

I think it would be nice to see Mark Wahlberg do a character that isn't Mark Wahlberg
