U-571
Directed by Jonathan MostowIn the midst of World War II, the battle below the seas rages. The Nazis have the upper edge as the Allies are unable to crack their war codes. That is, until a wrecked U-boat sends out an SOS signal, and the Allies realize this is their chance to seize the 'enigma coding machine'. But masquerading as Nazis and taking over the U-boat is the smallest of their problems. The action really begins when they get stranded on the U-boat.

U-571 Ratings & Reviews
- viktorsmiNovember 29, 2025One of the more underappreciated movies of its time. The biggest crime this movie commits is using real vessel names for a completely fictional story. However, this is not a documentary, it is a work of fiction based on multiple war stories. It is in fact an action movie set in a submarine. Practical effects are much appreciated, albeit they may have affected the "historical accuracy" some people look for. However, if you accept this movie is a work of fiction, then it's just a fun ride all around. Solid acting by McConaughey, Keitel and Paxton, with everyone else doing great job. I'm not sure why Bon Jovi got one of the top billings when he's barely in the movie.
- Peter PolivkaOctober 29, 2025Solid plot and quality holds up, maybe minus the 2 seconds of CGI with the destroyer.
- Ade StickleyAugust 24, 2025Such a great movie!
- Kent LysellAugust 5, 2025Guns of Navorone meets Hunt for Red October. Well worth the time spent watching it with a glass of scotch, neat.
