Tycoon Ratings & Reviews
Mister Arn

“Tycoon” casts John Wayne as a driven engineer caught in a melodrama where a railroad project takes a backseat to strained family ties and a lukewarm romance. The film touches on themes of determination, class divides, and masculine pride, but it only skims the surface, never fully committing to explore them in depth.

This romantic adventure with John Wayne (as engineer for a change), made a year before he became a major star, suffers from Wallace's routine helming and Borden Chase's uneven script.

Never terrible, but never that good.
