Twisters Ratings & Reviews
- TanalienNovember 2, 2024What Twisters does so well – and what other remakes should do – is separate itself from the original. Musically speaking, the films are worlds apart. No characters from the 1996 film are mentioned or make an appearance. This is wise because the film never gives us a reason to ask, “Why aren’t we just watching Twister?” Rather, Twisters bets on itself to produce equally compelling and authentic characters. And it delivers.
- jagdeep5March 9, 2025Just boring. Typical script and storyline, only exciting stuff was the special effects but even they became tedious. It's over 2 hours long, could've been shrunk by 30mins.
- karle875March 2, 2025Predictable, at times boring.
- jackmeatFebruary 15, 2025My quick rating - 6.9/10. I very much enjoyed the first flick and this one managed to strike a solid balance between paying homage to the original classic and taking advantage of modern advancements in technology and storytelling. While the original Twister boasted a stronger cast and the novelty of its plot, this sequel makes up for it with impressive visual effects and a bit more depth in its story. The film follows former storm chaser Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), a reckless social-media superstar, as they find themselves thrown together when unprecedented and terrifying weather phenomena begin to ravage central Oklahoma. As storm systems converge, the stakes are higher than ever, pushing both characters and their respective teams to their limits. Edgar-Jones and Powell deliver decent performances, bringing enough charm and energy to their roles to keep the audience engaged. I thought the rest of the cast could've been a bit more developed to add to the bigger picture of the narrative but they only seemed to throw a little extra time to Kate's mom, played by Maura Tierney. However, it's the visual spectacle of the storms that truly steals the show. The effects are top-notch, making the extreme weather events feel both awe-inspiring and terrifying. And let's face it, that is why we are all here and as much as it would've been great to see at the drive-in, I think an IMAX screen would be a better bet to truly take it all in. Overall, I am glad to see director Lee Isaac Chung pulled off a worthy sequel that will appeal to fans of the original. While it may not surpass its predecessor in every way, it delivers enough thrills and excitement to make it a satisfying watch for anyone who enjoyed the first film.
- ScottDecember 15, 2024This movie ruled and I wish there was a way to see it in 4D again. Pure 90’s-style gadget cinema and spectacle. A truck that can drill itself into the ground so they can shoot fireworks up it, radar imaging doodads, some sort of anti-tornado chemical. It has everything. I hope the third movie introduces another tornado that’s somehow good working with Powell and Edgar-Jones to fight the bad tornado because that’s what this movie suggested the trajectory of the franchise was.
- RyezooFebruary 4, 2025Hot people getting blown around in the wind. It’s fun but not amazing. They have a official soundtrack with all these artists on it with original songs and I hated every bit of it getting pumped into this movie. Would of been so much better with a normal dramatic score. Also the wife was upset because there was zero kissing with Glen Powell. The actors are fine in this, the story just felt very rehashed. Thankfully with this making money at box office, Universal will get a another shot at this franchise.
- Örn LúðvíkssonFebruary 9, 2025Bleah, had it's moments. Not connected to the original.
- Ray HopkinFebruary 3, 2025I loved this! A bit of mindless fun, with great effects and a great cast. The storms deliver!
- 匚卂尺ㄥFebruary 3, 2025Absolutely love the first twister movie so was dubious that this would be as good but have to say it’s a great watch for of action and good characters. Well worth a watch
- Jason FulceJanuary 26, 2025“Twisters”delivers some decent yet over the top action set pieces. However the plot and overall story is pretty dumb. Thankfully the cast is mostly likable. Not nearly as good as the original but it’s still worth a watch.
- Yeti255December 28, 2024Disaster movie light . . .ok.

- rg9400November 1, 2024An excellent example of a popcorn movie to watch in theaters. I was very surprised and impressed by the way the movie was able to enhance and develop the characters and their interactions. That drama aspect might actually be my favorite part of the entire movie, not the disaster action. There is some cool science, a very American cultural aesthetic in terms of the costumes and music, and an excellent cast of characters. Glen Powell continues his rise to stardom, but this is Daisy Edgar-Jones' movie. As someone who has been a fan of hers since Normal People, it is so gratifying to see her star turn here, and I hope she gets more recognition and roles going forward. If I had one complaint, it would be that the movie felt a bit too long with one set piece too many, and if it had been cut by 20-30 minutes, it would have been stronger. Regardless, go watch this on the big screen.
- vangh1October 28, 2024Exactly what a summer blockbuster theatre experience is supposed to be. A note perfect action thrill ride with laughs, heart, and adrenaline. The action gets big, but never over the top or unbelievably ridiculous. Glen Powell is a Gahtdamned movie star. He nails every glamour shot, every quip, and every smirk that feels like it forms despite his best efforts. Daisy Edgar-Jones is a full on action heroine. Her costume and look for the big final action sequence are iconic. This is the first movie in existence where I kind of wished I was in the 4d seats.
- S JohnsonOctober 25, 2024"Twisters" falls significantly short of recapturing the excitement and tension that made the original film such a classic.
