The cast is amazing, almost everyone had a standout performance. Eric Bana is super underrated in this. This is a must watch for greek mythology fans!
- macaronzJuly 19, 2026Wolfgang Petersen’s Troy remains one of the last true sword and sandals epics of its era, translating classical mythology into a gritty, star studded cinematic blockbuster. It definitely romanticizes the whole story of the Trojan War, but it does it so well. The scale of the movie is huge the sets look amazing and the battle scenes are incredibly well made and memorable. The acting is solid all around, but Brad Pitt absolutely steals the show as Achilles; he completely embodies the warrior vibe. Eric Bana is also fantastic as Hector, giving a really grounded and sympathetic performance.

- CubaneAugust 8, 2026There is no question the budget and cast were able to put together a modern epic truly worthy of the word in every sense. The effects were largely practical and the hordes of extras used command a presence on screen few other movies can compete with. However, like many other epics, this movie sort of collapses under its own weight. There are so many stars they end up fighting for screen time, and the narrative ends up so fragmented and strung out that everything starts to bleed together. After the 5th huge battle scene, you start to lose track of what's going on and why you should care. The generic grandiose orchestral score and shakycam scenes used to mask lazy choreography do not do this movie any favors either. In the end, it throws that javelin real far but fails to earn its runtime.
- WillsHimselfMay 24, 2026As someone who's curiosity around Greek mythology is deep, I thoroughly enjoyed Troy. While I wouldn't call myself a scholar on all the ancient stories, I am well aware that this film deviates heavily from the original myths and is packed with historical inaccuracies. However, if you can look past that, it is actually a pretty damn good watch. The filmmakers managed to compress a massive, sprawling legend into a solid three plus hours of incredibly well told storytelling. Purely in terms of epic, big-screen entertainment, it absolutely delivers.
