- macaronz2026年7月19日Wolfgang Petersen’s Troy remains one of the last true sword and sandals epics of its era, translating classical mythology into a gritty, star studded cinematic blockbuster. It definitely romanticizes the whole story of the Trojan War, but it does it so well. The scale of the movie is huge the sets look amazing and the battle scenes are incredibly well made and memorable. The acting is solid all around, but Brad Pitt absolutely steals the show as Achilles; he completely embodies the warrior vibe. Eric Bana is also fantastic as Hector, giving a really grounded and sympathetic performance.

While I wouldn't call myself a scholar on all the ancient stories, I am well aware that this film deviates heavily from the original myths and is packed with historical inaccuracies. However, if you can look past that, it is actually a pretty damn good watch. The filmmakers managed to compress a massive, sprawling legend into a solid three plus hours of incredibly well told storytelling. Purely in terms of epic, big-screen entertainment, it absolutely delivers.

- EnochLight2025年1月20日They don't make sword and sandal flicks like this anymore. TROY is beautifully shot, and Petersen's more realistic take on this legendary war epic is a sight to behold. There are no subtextual conversations from the POV of Zeus, Athena, Hera, or any of the other various Gods of Olympus. The film is from the POV of the mortals who loved, fought, and died in Homer's epic, and in doing so - Petersen grounds the film in a world that feels "real". Brad Pitt seems like he was born to play Achilles, as was Eric Bana playing Hector. Orlando Bloom, fresh off of Lord of the Rings, portrays a splendid Paris, and Brian Cox as Agamemnon was a brilliant choice. Peter O'Toole as Priam couldn't have been better, and Brendan Gleeson, Diane Kruger, and Rose Byrne all bring their A-game. If I had any complaint, it's that I would have loved to have seen Sean Bean as Odysseus in a follow-up in The Odyssey, but that ship has long sailed to Ithaca. On that note, I am very much looking forward to what Christopher Nolan does with The Odyssey (hoping he keeps the mythological/supernatural elements). < EDIT August 2026: I loved Nolan's! Overall, TROY is underappreciated and a fantastic piece of film history. Highly recommended! As of the time of this edit in August 2026, "Troy" was just (FINALLLY!) released in proper 4K UHD on Blu-ray, and I'm in the process of a remux as I type this,
