The CGI is top-notch, and the robot fights are fun to watch—if a bit overwhelming. Humor is hit-or-miss, and it runs longer than it needs to, but if you're in the mood for mindless fun, it delivers. Just don't expect much beyond the boom.

On that front, the film is undeniably impressive—seeing Autobots and Decepticons clash across global locations remains thrilling, and the technical craftsmanship is top-tier. Unfortunately, much like its predecessor, the plot begins with promise but gradually unravels under the weight of weak character writing and uneven pacing. The human cast—despite their efforts—often feels trapped in scenes overloaded with forced comedy, exaggerated reactions, and dialogue that undercuts the story’s stakes. The inclusion of crude humour and unnecessary slapstick moments not only breaks immersion but also detracts from the epic sci-fi conflict unfolding around them. While the robot action is entertaining enough to keep fans engaged, the film’s tonal inconsistencies and reliance on silliness prevent it from reaching its full potential. Visually impressive, narratively uneven, Revenge of the Fallen lands somewhere in the middle.

- M08YNovember 18, 2025I really do remember this movie being better than it is. Revenge of the Fallen fails to live up to the promise of it's predecessor. For some reason, I quite liked this film when it came out in 2009, but rewatching it, I can't for the life of me think why. While the first film didnt take itself too seriously, this film really turns up the cheese factor. Every aspect of this film is slightly more "teenage". The character drama is genuinely painful at times. I wanted big fighting robots, I did not particularly want teenage love drama. The robotic twins are unbearable and the weird little one is also really annoying. There are a few cool scenes (note I did not use the word good). These, unsurprisingly the scenes with the robots fighting and doing cool stuff. The 4K bluray was pretty good overall, visuals were good and the audio even managed to be good at times. Far from a reference disc, but good enough.
