- LivewireAdmin3. februar 2026There’s something almost magical about revisiting Tomorrow Never Dies now — because for me it isn’t just the second outing of Pierce Brosnan as Bond, or another ’90s 007 flick — it was my first Bond movie in theaters. I remember my mom taking me to the old “King Theater” in King of Prussia, PA (RIP), and the projector dying mid-opening sequence. The audience got rowdy. They fixed it. And by the time the lights dimmed again, I was hooked: Bond on the big screen, action, intrigue....the whole package. Looking at it with adult eyes, I’d say Tomorrow Never Dies is a fun — maybe slightly flawed — ride, but one that sticks. As a follow-up to GoldenEye, it doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, but it delivers enough style, spectacle, and high-tech paranoia to make Brosnan’s Bond stay in stride. The central villain, Elliot Carver (played by Jonathan Pryce), is a media mogul bent on fabricating global conflict for profits — a concept that now feels almost prescient. He’s not the most terrifying or complex antagonist in Bond history, but his ambition and the slick sheen of media manipulation give him enough bite to anchor the film’s stakes. I like how we've swapped volcano lairs for skyscrapers at this point in the Bond timeline. Unfortunately, outside of Carver and his cronies, the supporting cast doesn’t leave too deep an impression. That said — the one standout is Michelle Yeoh as Bond’s Chinese ally Wai Lin. She brings real strength and competence to her role — independent, capable, not just a damsel or sidekick: exactly what a modern Bond woman should be. On the flip side, Bond’s old flame Paris Carver (played by Teri Hatcher) mostly fades into background, which is a shame — but that imbalance is at least partially offset by Yeoh’s performance. It's funny how much the throw away character of Bond's Danish tutor is burned into my brain lol talk about impressionable. Where the movie rises is in its action and pacing: from stealth-ship naval battles to helicopter chases, underwater sabotage, and globe-spanning espionage, the film moves. The set pieces never quite hit the iconic heights of GoldenEye, but they’re solid. It's also hard to compete with the previous film in regards to memorable dialogue but there are a few lines here that have stuck with me over the years—"They'll print anything these days." And musically? The score by David Arnold — his first full Bond soundtrack — sets a modern, moody tone with a blend of orchestral drama and electronic textures. The title track by Sheryl Crow is a confident, late-’90s statement and one that lives on among the all-time great Bond songs. In the end: Tomorrow Never Dies isn’t Bond at his smartest or deepest, but it leans wholeheartedly into being Bond as entertainment. For me, framed against the personal memory of that first theatrical experience and all the nostalgia it carries, it ranks pretty high. It’s easily among my favorite of Pierce's — a competent, stylish spy thrill ride that launched me even further down the rabbit hole. fun fact: Bond gets a cell phone from Q branch in this one! State of the art!
- ርልዪረ28. januar 2025( -_•)︻デ═一Tomorrow Never Dies is the quintessential Bond film complete with all the right elements and gets the formula perfect. It sadly never quite escaped the huge shadow of Goldeneye, but I consider it actually superior to GE and overall the best of the Brosnan era. (And best modern Bond film overall) 1. Much better pre-title sequence. The most exciting one in the series along with Octopussy. Plus, there are no cringeworthy moments like Brosnan hanging updown in a bathroom stall or the ridiculous freefalling off a cliff. 2. Bond allowed to be Bond and not lectured by seemingly every character. In TND Bond is not called a misogynist dinosaur, or any number of other self-aware critiques that we have to endure throughout Goldeneye. 3. Bond actually uses his gadget laden car. What's up with that blue BMW in Goldeneye that barely even got driven? TND features a full on classic Bond car chase. 4. Better hair-cut. Lookin' sharp 007! The modern supporting cast of Samantha Bond, Judi Dench, Colin Salmon, and Joe Don Baker all look and act their very best in this film. 5. Awesome end credits song. Goldeneye ends with the lamest, most boring song possible. Did we just watch a Bond movie? TND has the great K.d Land "Surrender" that many Bond fans seem to like even better than the official title song.
- Jakeys28. desember 2025A rare case of a Bond movie getting better with age. The villain being a media mogul spreading misinformation was prescient. Michelle Yeoh was a great add, the car scenes were great fun, the stuff with Paris Carver being Bond's ex was a bit left field but got some good character development in for Bond. In the past I'd have rated this lower than The World is Not Enough, these days I view them about equal.
- Mister Arn24. mai 2025A decent opening action scene, but a weak villain and plot don't make it a memorable Bond movie.
- Daiken Seige27. januar 2026As a follow up to gokdeneye it keep a lot of the same. Everything holds up really well. It's a lot better then the low low point of this series which is the last one. So watch it or have it in the back ground it's still a good watch
- Zokkiie10. januar 2026Jonathan Pryce goes completely over the top as the villain, which is fun but a little silly. Michelle Yeoh is amazing as Wai Lin — easily one of the most competent and memorable Bond girls ever. The story is kind of weird and all over the place, and the villain’s motives don’t always make sense. Still, the action is solid, with some genuinely impressive stunts and set pieces. Overall, it’s a bit uneven but still an enjoyable spy-action film
- GBWest22. september 2025Lots of action, fun characters and...is that Emporer Gorgio? Two decades before STD (Star Trek Discovery) re-discovering Michelle Yeoh she was a Chinese agent in Tomorrow Never Dies, the second Pierce Brosnon 007 outing. There is no particular conflict between the foreign agents is some tongue in cheek moments where east meets "and agent of a corrupt western power." Elliot Carver is hardly a big screen villain, though he is without a doubt a warning to the average person about the dangers of being manipulated by the wealthy and the media. The villain of this film is both a wealthy individual and the head of a news organization greedily creating the headlines in order to be the top news agency throughout the world. Ironically enough, or perhaps CNN had an issue, as in the previous film M remarked, "Unlike the US government we don't get our bad news from CNN." It is a pretty shallow storyline. I can recognize the little tricks to hide an issue that must have bumped in during filming. As Paris (played by Teri Hatcher) is only seen either in close ups or in direct forward shots while dressed entirely in black, it is her body doubles that would have filled any other shot of Paris. When Bond removes Paris' dress, we see her from the back because it is one of those aforementioned body doubles as at the time of filming the actress was 8 months pregnant. Having the body doubles, with their faces buried in 007's neck, just makes it all the easier to get the performance of the actress and the sexy body shape of a woman who is not with child. The filmmakers hid it well. The lead role, played by Pierce Brosnon, is more like the narrator of the film, interacting with the other characters to progress the story forward.

- Rick Masters9. juli 2025One of my favourite Bond films, Pierce is excellent, the action scenes are exciting and varied, good villain, there’s some great lines and 007’s car is class in this one. Watched it many times when I was young and still holds up today.
- Christopher Pucknell24. juni 2025Personally I found Casino Royal a great direction for Bond; taking the character in a more serious direction, a return to the character of the source material. But many felt this Bond reboot lacking a certain something, and that something is trash. This iteration of the franchise has plenty of it, with it's kindergarden plot and comical over the top, hackneyed villian with literal arched eyebrows and unabashed Chinese racism, it's beautiful, embarresing, cheap 90's trash. Bond's terrible corny one liners, gizmos and gadgets absolutely shine in this movie, and both are dated as all hell. (I'm pretty sure I could download an app to control my car on my phone right now, most probably.) The forgettable plot is irremdeemably bad, the set pieces are cartoonish, predictable and have aged woefully. I was particularly fond of the scene where the chinese firework truck exploded, and I'm fairly sure a lot of the industrial set is just spray painted plastic. This is such a collosal let down after the superb and introspective Golden Eye. Whilst it's predecessor questioned the cynical motives of the nation state, and the terrible cost to it's pawn agents who devoted their lives to it's service, this film says "Yeah, but what if everything exploded". Whilst I have seen episodes of Thunderbirds with more dramatic tension and credability, this film made me laugh out loud several times, and at the end of the day, temporarily losing my vision from the blood rushing to my head is the most fun you can have in this terrible year of our lord, two thousand and twenty five AD. And to think people say the 90's were a golden age. Bond always beats the odds.
