The Watcher Ratings & Reviews

  • "THE MOVIE FANATIC"March 8, 2026
Keanu Reeves himself has come out and said in the past, that he considers The Watcher to be the worst film he's ever done 🤔🤔🤔 Well Keanu I 💯 disagree with you, The Watcher imo, is Keanu Reeves most underrated & overlooked film! It has great suspence, it's very very watchable and it gets in & gets out and doesn't overstay its welcome, the movie flows at a very good pace throughout. What I also really liked about it is, the cat & mouse games David plays with Agent Campbell, where he sends him a picture of the next woman he's going to murder and gives Campbell a day to try and find David's next target! All of that was very gripping and made me even more interested & invested in the film, it's literally a race against the ⏰️ is Agent Campbell going to be able to find and get to the woman David's telling Campbell that he's going after next on time, that element of The Watcher was awesome and had me on the edge of my seat. Also I loved the chase sequences, where he's so close to catching & identifying David at times, you feel like your right there with Agent Campbell you feel gutted everytime David gets away. The acting from James Spader is brilliant, you like & relate to his character, also Keanu Reeves as our serial killer is very good here as well, I thought he brought a real energy & spark to the David character. The only issue I have with this film, is I thought how David just reveals himself to Agent Campbell so easily & voluntarily was puzzling to me, where he's mentally f*****g, hiding & scappering away from him throughout the film, that just seemed very lazy to me and is a bit of a letdown tbh and it doesn't gel with the rest of the film in a coherent way. It really felt like they cut corners to get from point ( B ) to point ( C ) on how & where James Spader character, finally meets Keanu Reves character, that was a bit stupid and felt very unearned & too easy, it could have been done much more better! I just always found when David voluntarily meets up with Agent Campbell like that, it just didn't add up either, because he was very determined to keep his identity a secret and wouldn't take any stupid risks at getting caught and would prepare in great detail & methodically before he murders each & every one of his victims, I've always found that strange. However apart from that one big issue I have no other complaints about The Watcher at all, I think it's a very enjoyable & watchable thriller and is a movie that I highly recommend people watch it's really good 👍👍
